Pulling one out of a rabbit gum is interesting. Worse when they are small enough to turn around and greet you when you open the trap door. Left long enough they will chew a hole in one if its old and a little sloppy.
Otherwise pull hard and smooth and as soon as the head clears drop it. When they hit the ground they go full possum and play dead! Goofiest mouth full of snaggle tooth critter I've ever messed with.
My grandpa said when times was real hard they would eat them. Only way he said they could stand it was to "power boil them and drain all the fat and gristle off and fry what was left darn near burnt"! šŸ˜ƒ

Man I haven't put out any rabbit gums in a long dang time! Used to run a bunch on the farm, made for good eating.


Possums are my favorite critters. So ugly, they're cute. Had one as a "pet" for a while as a kid. Lived under the porch with the dogs, and acted just like them! Named him perry the possum.

My washer and dryer are easily 20 years old, came with the house.
I will continue to dump money into fixing them for this kind of reason.

A good friend of mine was a private yacht captain for years. He captained about a 70 or 80 footer. They towed a boat similar to that behind it. They called it ā€œthe little boatā€. It was a 30 foot Scout. He said the last trip they took from Charleston to the Bahamas and back cost $30k in diesel. Iā€™m sure they drove around over there as well, but still. I complain about filling up the pontoon for 120 bucks of non ethanol.

My buddy said it was about 250k a year to maintain both boats and pay his and another guys salary.
