Moving a yard shed

I’m dropping a few dozen trees in my backyard this week. After that, the ultimate plan is to smooth the grade, move the shed about 300’ on to a slab I’ll pour in the back corner. After the yard is opened up, this shed will kind of be in an awkward area off the back side of the driveway, hence the move. My question is, are there companies that will move these yard sheds? Anyone have it done? I know there are home movers and the shed installers themselves. Are getting quotes from them the best bet? If I can have it done for $500, I’d sooner cut the check. If it’s gonna run me $2-3k...I have a couple tractors and can make a sled/rollers and do it myself, but I’d really rather someone with the experience do it.

There is a place that advertises on Charlotte CL a lot called Shed Movers LLC. i had them move a 10x20 shed a few weeks ago and it was $375 all up.

Most of these places selling those same style sheds have a 1 ton truck and one of those special trailers. I’d call them and ask. They typically want to sell and deliver, but I imagine they’d be willing to move one for a few bills if they aren’t busy.

Let us know because I’m on the market for a building similar. I’m waiting on one of those deals on CL that say “if you can move it you can have it”

Usually those same movers with the fancy trailers have the little trailer caddies that are worth their weight in gold. If they can get to it, they'd probably roll that one on their trailer, get it close to where it needs to be, and then move it with the caddy thing.

I've got a buddy that's about to have one moved too and I'm with you...it's easier to just let them move it!

This is what you need. When I bought mine this is how they moved it. Like said I would think the places that sell them could do it.

The shed movers are worth the extra money over some guy with a roll back, especially if the shed movers will level it after moving it as part of the fee. My fishing buddy just had that done across the street from me, and it was painless. He's pretty cheap, but said it was the best $350 he's spent because he didn't have to touch it.

A guy here at work just had one moved a couple 100 feet and it ran him around $300, I think in this case you ought to call a shed supplier/mover and just pay the man.

Storage Shed Mover

I used this company several months ago to move 2 sheds. One shed was moved over 60 miles, the other was less than 5 miles. Think it was less than $600 total for them to move and then level both. One guy came out and did it by himself, he was quick and made sure I was happy with how it was placed and setup before he left.

I had a guy with a roll back move mine for $125. He messed the siding up a little bit, but the shed was free if I moved it so it wasn't a huge deal. I did have to climb on the roof to guide some low hanging phone wires over though. I would use somebody that moved them with a trailer if I had to do it over again.

I moved one about 45 Miles on a trailer. It was over the legal width so I had to get an oversized permit from the State. Wasn’t very difficult, just jack it up, block it up, back trailer under it. Let it down. Strap it down and drive slow

@ncsutj That's exactly what I'm talking about! Those contraptions are awesome!

@CasterTroy That's one of the mottos for HMH-12 on NAS Norfolk... "Piss me off and I'll move your house!" Saw it when I was there on a field team working on a few of their H53s last year :D

As long as it's in your yard, & it's built on skids, 1 tractor or 4 wheel drive could easily drag it. I've drug a few, & hauled a few, as long as they fit a 16' trailer! Not saying turning corners is easy, just takes some planning. Or, break out some cash!

For $350 it’s well worth the money to be able to blame someone else for tearing up the yard when my wife bitches about it, instead of hearing about it during any and all arguments in perpetuity, regardless of relevance.

If it's like that let her do the hiring as well!
