I always regretted not moving away for work. Not necessarily for a career move, but just to see somewhere else. If I didn't have kids, I would be gone now. Like others have said, you can always come back. Hell, maybe even with your same company if they don't want to lose youl
Oooh, Red River Gorge is RIGHT there too, Some awesome hiking there, especially if you like off-trail /unofficial hikes. (not that I'd ever advocate that in a national forest... )
3 years ago, we picked up and moved across the country for my job promotion. My wife had to quit her job and our kids were 2 and 6 at the time. Company restructuring resulted in my position getting moved back to NC, so we moved cross-country again 18 months later. None of us regret it for a second! The kids adapted very easily and we all made new friends. Life is an adventure! I hope to do it again one day.
Leaning towards taking it. I have until the 18th to decide. I want to think everyone for their insight and opinions. Haven't met near as many of you in person as I would like but I consider you my friends.

I am with the same company going on 42 years in July. Have moved 3 times. From Indiana to GA, where we left all of our family and high school friends, from GA to FL and from FL to NC. Had wife and 4 kids from beginning. Besides the suck part of moving all your shit, none of us regret any of the moves. I think it really helped the kids socially too. They always adapted well and made new friends quickly. I cannot say how good it is to be in NC though. There was talk of another possible move about 10 years ago and I told them to look elsewhere that I had found home. I would say, especially in your position, to go for it. Be silly not to give it a try.
Work will pay to move me and buy my house if it doesn't sell after 90 days. So the moving part is easy at least and shouldn't stand to loose much financially if I decide to come back home when something opens back up later.
If you really like your place here, or it is special for some reason; you might see if they would be willing to cover rent or something up there vs selling your home here.

I'm still in the house I bought when I was 20 and moving out from mommas. I was looking to move anyway as I've outgrown the property with my collection of motorized vehicles.
