Just have to do a few odds and ends now. Got to rob a few more things from the old body and work on the other set of doors I have for it so I can cut the blue ones down for half doors. I think I have a fuel line pinched because it'll start then shut back off after about 2 seconds so I have to diagnose that. All in all it went pretty smooth.

Well it wasn't a fuel line pinched. When I wired up the 16v harness, I tapped the brown wire with a black tracer instead of solid brown for the tach. I guess I didn't move enough of the 23 year old dirt to correctly identify the tach wire. I was wondering why it wasn't moving even when it fired. Good as gold now. And on a side note, I've got a working fuel gauge now!!! :driver:

Got the fuel gauge working, my mirror brackets and mirrors installed and the flares painted. I've got the wiring figured out for the headlights now all I have do to with that is rob the connectors from the blue body and hook them up. Also have to wire the tail lights, parking and turn signals and bleed the brakes. I think the only things I have to take off of the blue body is the speedo cable, rear corner guards, rocker guards, headlights, rear view mirror, ash tray, the trim piece under the steering wheel, and the wiper blades and I'll be set. I'm digging the gray and black. What do y'all think?

Moved it out of the garage under it's own power but not far since I still don't have brakes. Got the head lights and side marker lights in and wired up, the speedo cable and cluster back in and mounted the shifters. Still have to wire up the rear tail lights bleed the brakes and get the rocker and rear corner guards off the blue body and put on and mount the seats. I've got a different seat of seats that came out of a car that I'm going to try before I mount the other ones I had back in it because they are just too tight.

Got the brakes bled, the seats mounted, one rear rocker guard installed and a little more wiring done. Going to try and get the rest of the wiring (fan, fast idle, TC lockup) done tomorrow as well as the other rocker guard and at least start on the other set of doors I bought for it.

Got the rest of the wiring done (TC lockup switch, e-fan, fast idle) and got the rear seat belts mounted. They were the belts out of the parts truck I got the front seats out of. I mainly wanted the belts for the lap part for the girls but I don't think they are going to work. They won't lock when you snatch on them so I may try and look for some lap belts out of an older car or a CJ. The rear seat is just set in there right now. I can't move it any farther back because of the seat belt housings. I wanted to use the stock belts that were in there but they were locked up too bad to get freed.

Also got my bikini top on but I'm going to have to rob the bars that go from the windshield to the targa bar from the old body so I can attach the side straps and also so it won't create a pool of water on top when it rains.

Started getting my doors prepped and painted so I'll have a matching set. Got one done and the other needs paint and the hardware put back on. After I get these finished I'm going to start on my half doors.

What I started with:

Yup, that used to be crushed burgundy velvet :driver: :

Put my stock door panels back on for now since they are in OK shape. This will do until I get my ABS panels in a couple weeks:

Got the passenger door finished and got her all cleaned up. I wanted it to look really nice at least one time before the beating commences. About the only things I have to do now is get the exhaust fixed, put the tunes and CB in and she's set. For now...

But where is the volvo.......

Looks very good

Man charlie, the sami is looking good bud. Makes me miss mine.
Thanks guys! I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Next on the list is exhaust, cage, and I have to work on adjusting the p/s pump. It's always a work in progress but I love it. :driver:

Cage

Charlie got started on the cage today and I think it looks great. He's going to finish making the sliders tomorrow and finish tying everything to the frame. Picking it up Monday when I get off work.

Thanks man. The guy building and installing my cage said the doubler gave out on him taking it to the shop. :( So now I have that to look forward to when I go get it tomorrow morning after I get off work. After I tear all that apart to see what's wrong I'm going to install my rear driveline disconnect and hopefully tackle my rear tire/gas can carrier. I've got a trip to Coal Creek/Windrock TN the first weekend in June that I've been planning since Jan. I hope I can make it in time.

Better pics of finished cage and sliders.

Primed and ready for paint.

Turns out the shifter was made out of inferior material and the yoke that connects the shafts of the t cases was stripped on the Sami case side. Scott, the guy that built my doubler, is looking into why this has happened to mine and 3 others. Sent out the parts today free of charge. Rock 4x Fabrication is the shizzy!

Mounted and wired up my CB

Wired up my trans temp gauge too.

Well since my trip to Harlan I decided it's time to take ole girl to the next level. 4 link front and rear, 16" 2.0 Fox air shocks, 3/4" heims and stretch is underway. I dropped her off at a buddy's shop that wheels with us locally and told him to have at it. He's shooting for about a 102" wheel base and lowering her about 6". I dropped off my DOM on Friday and he's supposed to work on it some again today. I also picked up a rear suck down winch yesterday. Here are the progress pics do far.

Cant wait to see the finished product, I always love seeing the different ways people truss yoda axles for links, keep the updates coming

A little more progress. He got the gas tank out and the wheel base and ride height set too but no pics of that yet.

Looks good buddy.
Thanks man

Ride height set and this is where the rear axle is going to sit. The tire will stick out of the rear by just a couple of inches. Mounting tabs should be in in the next day or so and the rear will be done.
