My 87 Sami - Rust fix

Well all 4 corners are cut. The front axle is sitting real close to where it's going to be mounted. The front looks kind of funny cut like that but I'm also having him put a sort of mini exo on it that will tie in to the rock rails and the front and rear bumpers. This will let the tires ride on the tube at full stuff instead of destroying the body. The tube will also be 1.5" .120 DOM to match the sliders.

He said it'll be linked this weekend. Then off to the steering, exo, and fuel tank placement. She's getting closer!!

The rear is linked! Here's what he sent me:
Ok, got the rear linked today. I have a couple gussets and things left to do, but we are talking an hour before its done. This thing came out sweet. The fender trimming matches the articulation perfect and during the suspension travel the rear pinion only moves one degree ;). Upper links ended up being level (which is wnat you want) and I got 7.5deg-8deg of lower link rise making the anti squat value near perfect. The rear tires stick past the bumper 2" giving the samurowe vertical wall climbing capabilities. Here are a couple pics...

that is a GOOD LOOKING rear truss!

Front frame mod done. He moved the radiator up for clearance and it looks awesome. It's a good thing I put the body lift on. Winch plate is going on tomorrow along with cutting off the ford shock mounts and going to start the new shock hoops. He also added gussets and supports to the rear frame mount for the links. Thia is the only pic I've got:

Got the steering ram mounted and working on the front truss now.

Front truss is done along with the new frame tube work on the frame. More progress will be made today.

A few progress pics. I really like the way he built the diff guard. Going to drop off my front winch tomorrow before work or Saturday morning after I get off and then he's going to start on the outer tube work.

Got some updated pics! Wheelbase is set at 102", the front winch is mounted and the outer tube work has started. Upper links are measured and ready to be cut but he ran out of time today. He said it will be linked in the front this week.

She's almost done. I need to pick up some more tube and get my orbital and it'll be done. Well, done enough to take it home so I can do what i need to do to it.

The front end is sitting on it's own weight and she's almost ready to come home. Going to get the rest of the tube to the shop on Thursday so she should be ready to be picked up this weekend.

Well the front has a few more touches on it and it's done. Now he's started finishing up the rear. While he's got it I'm also going to get him to fab me up a transmission mount.

Well now that the holidays are over with, my buddy can get started back on the Sami. We pushed it back into the shop Saturday night. So far he's got the orbital mounted and the lines ran. He also installed the brake line mounts.

A few more updates. Got the steering plumbed with a reservoir installed and started on the rear tube work. He's going to get the rear bumper at least started today but since it's raining he probably won't quit until late tonight or until it's done.

Hmmmmmmm........

ai269.photobucket.com_albums_jj49_Copasetic27_Zuk_20build_100MEDIA36IMAG0314.jpg

Oh I see where you're going with it! The turn down for the start of the rear bumper is going to tie in right where the weld starts.

ai269.photobucket.com_albums_jj49_Copasetic27_Zuk_20build_100MEDIA36IMAG0316.jpg

Rear bumper is done and the rear suck down winch is mounted. He didn't tie the side bars into the rear bumper because I'm still not sure exactly how I'm going to finish the tailgate. I know I'm going to convert it to a fold down instead of a swing out, just don't know yet how I'm going to trim up the sides to match the comp cut.

Thanks guys. I'm really loving the way it's turning out. The seats are out of a 95 Z71. I cut the factory GM seat mounts down to lower them and welded them back up and bolted them straight to the floor with grade 8 bolts and large diameter washers. They're a very tight fit but way better than the stock seats. I do miss my cup holders in the middle though.
