My little man has been getting warmed up and ready for his first trail ride in the Jee-eep as he calls it
 
As for a cheap effective winch plate it's hard to beat a Harbor Freight one...that's what I put on my YJ and it fit great. I trimmed maybe a half inch off both sides to make it clean but it bolted right up.
 
We were able to take the jeep for its first hot lap around the neighborhood. Shout out to csudman for trimming the fenders and for letting me use his place to build this thing! I still have to mount the shocks and bumpstops but it should be done Sunday!
 
Almost done. Windshield wipers and rear shock mounts. This jeep will be tons of fun on the cheap

Fenders turn on perfect!

This thing is almost done, finally. I have to replace the front brake lines because they are no where near long enough as well as redoing the front bumps!
 
Drove the jeep home last night and it runs out great. I still have a few things to finish but overall very happy with it. Also, the tires were internally balanced and they run out great even on cheap steel wheels!! This was a concern of mine. I still have to get my winch mounted and some cable for it, rock sliders, and by wheeling season I will have the rear locked. I am thinking about leaving the front open for now just for reliability!
 
Yeah man. Grace always gives me a hard time since I never had something completely finished. Seemed like it was always one thing after another financially, especially after buy the house, remodeling it, and having a chap. This one will be completely done and well used. Come hang man. It has been to long!
 
I think I saw this jeep in your driveway the other day in Statesville near Carolina BBQ. Looked great form the road, wish I could have gotten a closer look. Great job man.
 
Sorry guys. I haven't done much to it lately. It is running and driving and passed inspection. I still have to mount the winch, redo the shock mounts, sliders and a few other things. I bought a front locker for it and I am on the lookout of stock tj shafts. Still unsure what to do with the 8.8 limited slip rear without spending a lot of coin. I will try to get some pics of it soon. I am very please with how it turned out and its low stance...just beem lazy due to the weather!
 
Just picked up an 8.8 open carrier that I am just going to weld to save some money. No more than this gets driven it should be fine. Still on the lookout for a tj shaft and need to do some research on what seals are needed!
 
Just as a FYI, and a set of shafts from a xj with ABS would also get you the larger joints and the single piece shaft. There a little easier to find also. Pull a parts has a bunch and there only like 15 bucks a side. I usually get them from there and I also grab a spare unit bearing.....

Got the jeep tagged this past Friday and got it out on the road. It rides and handles great with a little bump steer to work out. It needs a steering stablizer and alignment and should be good to go.

Also, my other huge concern is the oil pressure. It was reading high 40s on the stock gauge until it got really warm and then hung around 30 and dropped to zero at idle. I am going to replace the sending unit first since the jeep did sit for a few years. If this doesnt work, I will do a mechanical gauge, then try a new oil pump last. I am hoping these steps will shed some light. The engine only has 147k on it but I have no clue how it has been cared for.
