my new car

it's a null and void argument... there's no such thing as a domestic anymore, and hasn't been for quite some time. foreign automakers have consistently produced superior products in many areas over the past 2+ decades, and US companys have done the smart thing to implement some of their technology/engineering.

Hhhmm, sounds like the imports really ARE better!

i concur... as far as reliability and overall technology, imports have had the upper hand for years. especially japan and germany. it's the japanese that really amaze me. the leaps and bounds they've made in their relatively short amount of time producing vehicles is simply amazing. not to say the US hasn't been extremely influential in other countrys advancements, they just seem to capitalize on and refine technology much better. US companys have gotten much better in recent years, but with all the intermixing of manufacturers now you can't really call it a score for the domestics.

The thing I've noticed since going fron a german dealership to an independant that does mostly domestics is the manufacturers obvoiusly want everyone to bring it back to the dealer for service. Domestics and imports have different ways of encouraging this. It seems to me the Imports just don't offer up the info or diagnostic tools. Domestics offer the info and tools, they just make it damn near impossible to get to anything to do anything to it! They all have their issues for sure, but I think the domestics put stuff in the way on purpose. Ie they just have to put the spark plugs in there so you practically have to take the body off the thing to get them out. I see dumb stuff done on all vehicles, but the domestics just seem to me to have more dumb stuff that should be simpler and easier to get to things. why put a steel coolant line right across the bolt that holds the p/s pump on? Move the thing an inch one way or the other! Any way, how 'bout that new car? :D

Hey, how's it run? (Now that it's back together) ;) ;)

What kind of trooper is that and what motor is it running?
from the pic, 85-87 (most likely an 86) and running a carbed 2.3. i've got tons of good parts motor parts inlcuding a head, carb, etc. should anyone buy it and need anything. plenty of body/interior stuff too.
