MY NEW MUD RIG 66 Bronco

big, stupid huge, buggy ,challenge......44's are puney for that crap, you need at least 49's t run TTC and 54's to win. Good luck

who's to say he aint going to throw those on it?! 44's are the tire class he's running in at the mudpit. Most pits dont have a 49 or 54 tire size class. goes from 44's to tractor most of the time.

44 cuts on all corners is a perfect set up. Most of those yahoos with 54s cant turn them. I can turn my 44s

OK KIDS PLAY NICE
A few progress pics from yesterday. Getting the engine compartment ready for the mud & water. Also wanted to show the suicide doors in action. Paint may go on this weekend. As one of my buddies says "This is not a SEMA project."

Finally got back on here today and seen it. That thing is nasty. I checked the other forum to see it and found the full build up. Good Luck today Carl. I saw Jason last night and he said maybey going to run it in Sanford. Good Luck again

The doors are badass.

So I get the point of the engine ocmpartment "fender" sheeting etc... but are you concerned about heat dissipation? I'd think all the engine heat would have nowhere to go, it make slowly cook itself...?
Also, if muck does get IN, can it get OUT?

got to keep the water out. This thing runs on alcohol so it stays pretty cool. I have seen it before after a pass and the intake is white with ice. Also, only running between 6 and 12 second runs.
It should not be an issue.

First suicide doors I've ever seen on a mud pit racer. Better make sure those latches get washed between races! Seen a many regular doors get clogged with mud so they wouldn't completely latch and flap down the track - so to speak. Happened to my only attempt of racing (stock rig) during my second run. I just held my elbow over and went. Have you took into consideration of not having doors at all?
Give us a heads up on here and I'll try to make it to Sanford on the 1'st just to see this thing run. I've been itchin to go anyways...

Ha, I thought I was the only Mud guy dumb enough to run with no doors . . . or top . . . or windshield . . . :driver:

IDK if rocks would be a good idea for mud racing, probably too heavy, thats why they run 2.5 ton specific classes usually, if my junk is running I'm gonna try and make it out to the Trucks Gone Wild 2.5 ton race in September :burnout:

Dude you need to bring the rig out to our track some when you get it done, there was some dude in an older bronco out there a race or two ago.

Think you got anything for Windle Skipper? He seems to be the one to beat right now.

Dumb question, can you spray nitrous when your running on alcohol? I would think to be competitive you almost have to be spraying in the unlimited class - course you've been in the sport way longer than myself, that might seem like a dumb suggestion, IDK, it just seems like that's the only way to make real competitive power unless you wanna go blower.

Like I said that may sound dumb, I'm not a competitor, just an event manager :smokin:

actually the bronco has only had doors on it for a year or two. used to be run without doors. this bronco has been raced for over twenty years. and yes it has been sprayed before. i'll let cuz1 fill in the details.
cuz1, got the 16" beadlocks; phone has been dead all day. lets get them tires on and head out to the coast in a couple of weeks.

carl let us know where you will be racing so we can come support you.
btw guys >>>>. this aint his first rodeo. he knows what he is doing he has been around this most of his life.

Windell Skipper is the man along with Darryl Jones. I do not think I can run with those guys. Windell out horsepowers me--- I would say by 600 hp and Darryl by about 1500 hp.
The bronco is definetly old school and a heavy truck compared to most guys but I will give hell trying.

I am eyeballing the Uwharrie race on the 18th. Not real sure what classes they run. Is there a big tire d.o.t class?

carl

Yes, it is set up to run nitrous but it seems to run better without it. With alcohol you have to have racing gas to ignite the nitrous. So--- there are 3 fuel tanks on board when running-- alcohol, racing fuel, and nitrous. Also a whole bunch of fuel lines and swithches. I will probably not run the nitrous.

Yea the 18th would def be a good one to come out to, we're doing our normal mud race then I got all the guys from Galloway's coming over and helpin us run a Bumper to Bumper grudge pull Comp right after the mud that evening :smokin:

Pro classes are 38 DOT, 44 DOT, and Unlimited (Cuts, paddles, etc)

You could run the top two classes :driver:

I thought that was the Welch '66 but wasn't sure. Front went from leaves to coils, I see it was extended some and the front got narrowed with a different grill. Although raced for 20 years, it's now basically a total different setup...

Neil got my support since around '96 or '97. I never missed a race when I discovered that I lived 1.5 miles from Willow Spring. Was so fun to watch him and Dennis battle it out on Dennis's home turf. Some good times right there!

Carl, considered the solid rear like some of the Down East gang? Or do you plan on having a spline left to walk with for your later years?:shaking:

Definately keep us posted!

Dude, I am already in my later years. Hopefully the rear is good with the Fox air shocks. We will find out very soon

If you still up with T-Bone. Tell him Jeremy Jones said hey. Saw him in some of Neil's pics. We moved to NC at same time and worked together. Haven't seen that crazy dude in about 14 years.
