Taking no money, so I won't be tempted to ride off with it

SUCKER!!!!

Very nice! get ready to log some miles and head up to the mountains for the day when the temp breaks one saturday :D

I didn't ride off with it, I thought about it all weekend. :flipoff2:

It will need some upgrades as time goes by, already has handlebar risers, will need a better seat, and some luggage.

You suck.

umm...this is of course after the full exhaust for that mega v-4 sound :D

You're doing the world a dis-service by not uleashing such a heavenly tone :smokin: Even the rotty in the first pic is intimidated by that rumble

I refuse to pay for a Harley with 20 yr old technology. I like them, but IMO, way over priced for what you get.

I don't have an econobox, and this is much more fun.

BTW, the wife is taking the motorcycle safety course, she'll be riding the Virago for a while.

bad ass... i want a vfr for my next bike (or at least something sport oriented with a V).

i think i need to post my wreck pics from a few months back to encourage everyone to wear their leathers this upcoming season...:flipoff2:

Congratz, very nice bike.
This is what I'm looking at:

Those are AWESOME!!!

Ride it first though. I was SOOO close to getting a 2004 when I read about all the heat issues. Seems they really cook your legs because of the poor ventilation of the engine. Rode one at bike week at daytona and changed my tune. I'm a hot natured person, and that really was a concern for me

Another big complaint is the stock screen and buffeting, as well as drivetrain ticking.

Just things to consider

I have heard of the heat issues with the ST's but read a lot of reviews and very few mentioned it. There is a wrap you can put on the headers that will take care of it anyway.
Rode one the first year they came out (1991) fell in love with them then. Just kept think it was for older men....LOL.
Well now I guess I qualify, sold my '85 V65 Sabre (scary fast bike) a while back and looking for something to ride to work on, curvy road commute about 20 miles.

Beast, I looked at a new one over at the Honda dealership off of Capital, by 540, very nice bike, but felt top heavy compared to the VFR. And I can get hard luggage for the VFR. Besides the fact that I wanted a used one, and you just don't find used ST's around too much.

My best friend bought one of those new...tells me horror stories of it's speed and how it would light the tires up while he was doing 60.

Apparently those were like the Busa's of the time because he always goes back to that bike when we talk about fast bikes. He regrets ever selling it. And if you saw his garage that would really surprise you (94.5 Duc 916, BMW RS, Duke II, 69 Norton Commando, Silver ann. Vette) about THAT bike

Lol, first time I "tried it out" I on a stretch of road I knew very well and there was a line of cars in front of me. There was a long straight passing zone and I pulled out and dropped it into third. When the tack hit about 6800, it felt like someone hit me in the rear tire. I looked down at the speedo when I upshifted into 4th, the needle was sweeping past 130 and I let off. It was a 6 speed and I never did that again, no idea how fast it would really run, but I never had another bike touch me. Oh and you could shift through the first 3 gears and bark the front tire between shifts from it riding just above the pavement.

Fun bike, thought of getting another, and yes I'm sick I ever sold mine.

I've rode a few different sport bikes, but never a VFR. Problem I had was after about 30 minutes my back was hurting. Just couldn't get comfortable, that is why I'm looking at st's.

How is the riding position on the VFR?

Beast, not trying to sway your choice in either direction, but that was the way with me also. After an hour on my Ninja, my back hurt. I started looking at used ST's. Then I came across an article about the VFR with hard bags being a sport cruiser. With some higher bars, and aftermarket seat, they are very confortable. Like I stated, go compare them side by side and see what you think. Plus I just found a better selection of used VFR's then I did of used ST's.

No, I value some input, especially if I can save some $$$.

Are the prices much better than the st's? I'm looking at 2004's in the blue and I can find a few in the high 8's, low 9's with low mileage.

Yes, I think so. I got mine, 2003 with only 5k miles on it, for less then $6k. But you have to add in hard luggage, $1000 for oem unless you find them used. Probably about $500 for aftermarket seats and handlebars if you want more confort. Rich know's more about the VFR's then I do, he was the one I asked many questions of.
