For a quick snack, drain a can of chunk light tuna and add a pack of fast food bbq sauce. microwave.

"iluv mud" West of Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport what's the BBQ Joint with the big armadillo cooker out front? - I like that one but can't remember the name.

Steaks/Beef best areas to me in order - Texas, Kansas, Montreal CA. Everywhere else just doesn't taste as good to me.

Back on NC BBQ = PORK
Don't forget get the hushpuppies and Sun Drop or Cheerwine over pellet ice!

I'm partial to eastern style... but you've got to really mess up a piece of pork before I won't eat it.

The best BBQ joints look sketchy as shit from the outside.

Lexington is West? Could I please have a brief explanation of each before I decide?
Brisket cooks at least 10 hrs. Use Kingsford if you buy charcoal. Propane is for chumps. Pork is heroin with bacon being the good stuff. Vinegar=good. Carrots can be used with discretion and who cares what color the slaw is, which one is closer?
Who's up for a friendly grill off near a rock garden?

I would not say Lexington is West... I would say Vinegar based is East and Tomato based is West...

tomato based sauce
white slaw
red slaw means you're a homo
I like any bbq, but not as big a fan of vinegar sauces. I prefer to smoke my own and let the rub do the flavoring, I don't like messin it up with sauce most of the time.

Dave you should get a smoker and make your own and freeze it, it keeps well. Then you can get your fix whenever you need it.

Thanks, that helps explain things somewhat. In Asheville I feel west
Mine has both vinegar and tomato. I'm good either way on that but keep the sweet bbq sauce away from me.

I know the place your taking about but I can't remember either its been 3 years since I've been out that way but will be out there this summer not just for the BBQ. I enjoy some places around here not a fan of the vinegar based I like Okie-Dokies in swannona Rubys in Has Creek & though I haven't been there I like 12 bones ribs, my buddy brought some to the house one day. I also forgot about Stubbs in Austin damn good & you can get his sauces at the grocery store. I will say the worst BBQ I've ever had was when I was in Florida went to 3 different places & they made the McRib taste good.

Yeah def dont forget the hushpuppies those are awesome. I know smithfields has some pretty good bbq but the closet one I know in my area is cameron and that a good hr and half away.

Im originally from Michigan, but Ive been here 9 years, and am still confused as to what eastern/western/Lexington BBQ really is. My version of BBQ is pork covered in a thick sweet tangy sause. And red slaw is NASTY! I just have to say that. I also like sweet cornbread, and UNSWEETENED tea. Its been more than one occasion where Ive been told "You aint from around here are ya?" after ordering unsweet. Back on topic... the best rib place Ive been to is Dirty Ernies Rib Shack up next to the Gauley Bridge in West Virginia. They are only open in the summer, as the place is an uninsulated barn with bare concrete floors. People write on dollar bills and post them up on the walls and booths in the place. Its a great hole in the wall place. I dont know what style it is but is pork and its saucy! I could eat better than two full racks of their ribs if I wanted to. When it comes down to it, we all just like what we like, and thats it. Same goes for wheelin rigs and everything else!

Depends on what im eating if ribs I like a sweeter sauce like from sticky fingers in concord but for me mainly east all the way!!!

I've eaten BBQ in East NC, West NC, Memphis, Tenn., Texas and California. By far the best for me is Eastern NC. I do like white slaw and hush puppies. The best way to eat BBQ is straight on the cooker! Pick off the pieces you want dip in vinegar/pepper sauce and chow down! Now I will admit I like all BBQ just love East NC the best.

Mac's Speed Shop is the best BBQ in the Charlotte area. I prefer "Texas" style. NC BBQ, east or west (there's a diff?), all tastes bland to me. I do prefer white slaw, but slaw doesn't make it BBQ.. wtf?

We ate at a place in Auburn that had some fantastic BBQ. I had the ribs and they were quite delicious. I think it was called Mike & Eds?

I think the wood also makes a big difference...we cook with oak down here.Hickory makes the BBQ taste like bacon to me.Give me what I have here, all others don't rank in my book.

BBQ in NC = pulled pork, it's a noun here not a verb, just trying to help you with the local watriess.

You people who can't tell the difference in BBQ are probably the ones who can single out microbrews, beers and wine. What gives?

From all the post above it seems only locals can tell the difference in pork BBQ, got more refined taste buds I guess. Throw the whole pig on, slow cook it and pull it off the grill - nothing better. I do like it "texas" style and western style also, just prefer eastern if the choice is there.

I like them all, east NC, west NC, Memphis, Texas, or whatever. I like different craft brews for the variety of flavors, same with meats. Yes, I'm a relocated yankee and don't live and die by one restraunt. I'm more refined and open-minded than that.:flipoff2:

I was thinking the same thing. I like a lot of different beers, why is it so wrong to enjoy different styles of barbeque as well? Sounds like a ford/chevy/dodge argument to me. None are as good as a ribeye anyway. :flipoff2:

Not to get back on slaw, but;

White slaw with carrots - I'm fine with that at the local Fish Camps.

Fish Camp is slang for "out in the country seafood restaurant" for those who don't know, hee, hee!

Last week I stopped in Gastonia for some BBQ while @ work. Got it from Ro's BBQ and WTF! it was like some Bastard child of east and west and a bottle of thousand island. All in all in wasn't bad but if you haven't eaten there don't expect east or west because that isn't what you'll get. I should of known something was wrong when it said minced instead of chopped or pulled

MMMmmmmmmmm, BBQ salad with ranch dressing, I like that to.

I guess I like a little of everything, that's why I'm 265 lbs.
