Anybody sent in license plate renewal by mail recently?

I've sent in 3, around 4 weeks ago, and no stickers yet. They were mailed separately, on separate days, from different locations (one at PO, one in our street box, one in a collection box (iirc in Aberdeen). Of the three, one is totally different, and delivers to another address (my mom's car).

Seems we usually get them back in a week or so.

Just got mine yesterday after what seemed like a month or more.

Bought one a month ago. Seems like it took 7 -10 days. Not like the past renewals, where my stickers came in 3-5 days. Also noted the New [to me] Handling company [Outsourced?], that was Harder to navigate, & charged more money than DMV did! Fricking Sucks!

Have you guys heard about this thing called "the internet" ... use that.

Disclaimer: I agree that the new chat bot style renewal is infuriating.

The online renewal website sucks and they charge $3.

The entire system is jacked. Wife’s tag died in October and we got the notice on October 31. Went to the tag office a few days later and they didn’t charge the late fee because they know how bad the system is now.

I never set foot in a dmv tag office.

Still waiting

So not to derail but Does NC offer Disabled Vet (free) for the “Weighted” plates. I’ve looked at the .GOV site and can’t see it say anything. Nobody answers a phone call and with my work schedule I haven’t been able to make it to a physical office to ask.

Probably not on for weighted. I have weighted Iraq Vet tags and it is the same cost as a regular weighted tag.

I refuse to pay the online convenience fee, heck I’m too cheap to buy for a postage stamp. I guess I would be more open to it if the kernersville tag office wasn’t so empty. I don’t mind standing in line for 5-10 minutes, people watching, good entertainment.

That's fine except in areas like Charlotte & Gastonia. Lines are So long, they finally made waiting rooms, with chairs! You get to play musical chairs, & watch you number move on a digital board. General wait could be up to an hour!

When the Official DMV site handled it, You put in your name, I believe, & presto, all your info was there. You just confirmed it was right. They added $1 for postage & your tag or sticker, was on the way. Now, this Outsource, You have to put in All your info, & confirm it, while jumping through 3 hoops. Add $3 , & someday, you get a sticker! All via Internet!

I’ve always wondered that, even though I’ve always felt like it’s for the old dudes that have canes and missing limbs. It’s probably just a complex for not accepting my own issues after getting medically retired in 2015.

Yeah, I’m not an ERB on the back glass kind of guy at all and part of why I have kept Michigan plates forever is there isn’t a special plate for trucks. Being here in NC permanently though means I have to switch over and I’m not trying to get taken to the cleaners if I don’t have to. My hypocrisy also only goes so far I suppose.

Yeah it’s a total pride issue for me the more I think about it. I hate being labeled disabled or anything and just want to be a contributing member or society, lol. But it’s like man I could totally save a few hundred bucks a year once I get a tow rig.

Finally had one of the 3 outstanding to show up. The last one mailed in. So they evidently aren't processing them FIFO.

Thanks to this thread I just remembered I hadn’t done mine yet and it expires this month.
I’m against added “convenience” fees, but if this vendor is paying the usual merchant charges to the credit card company, they’re losing money on me.

I've noticed the renewal invoices are going out like a month late. This is BS beyond the stupid new renewal system.
