The kids wont starve cause they get the free lunch at school and a snack during the after school program they stay at till 6 everyday,mommas gotta have her personal time,while dad works on the derby car ya know.On the weekend theyll have the backpack of food that the local church/Lions club/school boosters or other social organizations sends home w em.
 
They should make EBT like WIC, you can only buy certain items. Too many times I've been behind someone buying nothing but junk food and soda and out comes the flag card.

The calorie idea isn't bad either, I'm a big guy myself but I got here on my own dime.

And start shutting down these ghetto convenience store owners that let people buy cigarettes and beer and ring it up as milk and bread.

I think marijuana should be eliminated from the drug screen sheet. Test for things that actually might affect a person's livelihood or safety. Nobody who smokes a joint after work will show up the next day and screw up. Nor will a pot smoker sell their mamas couch for weed money while their kids are in foster care.

If you didn't spend your money on pot or sit around on your ass smoking for free from your friends you could be productive and have a job.

I understand what you getting at, but if you are asking for assistance then there should be a multitude of legitimate hurdles. I would add alcohol and tobacco testing to the requirements under the same principle.

I personally couldn't pass these requirements, therefore I'm not on any public assistance.

For assistance, point. But if marijuana was eliminated from all employment jobs, perhaps SOME of these people might could get a job.

Idk, I'm outside looking in. I've got the best of both worlds ;)
 
I wasn't going to weigh-in because my experience has really changed my perspective. I've worked for DSS for 8+yrs. - 6 as an eligibility caseworker & 2+ as a fraud investigator. At this point, the drug testing is limited to cash assistance recipients, which is a very small number of individuals when compared to foodstamps or even Medicaid. Individuals who have been convicted of an out-of-state, federal, or anything other than class H or I drug felonies are permanently disqualified from receiving foodstamps. Class H & I are disqualified for 6 months & must undergo an assessment to re-establish eligibility. Only that individual is disqualified though - they can still receive benefits for children & other eligible household members.

Prescription pain killers are the biggest problem I've seen with recipients so unless the panel includes this, it's not going to be nearly as cost-effective as everyone thinks it'll be.

I personally think foodstamps should be structured like WIC too. They should have to attend nutrition classes & receive vouchers for specific foods. I'm tired of hearing about the connection between poverty & obesity. They get free food money but picked the damn processed foods even though the farmer's market accepts EBT cards. I can't count the number of times I've had to review surveillance with people purchasing soda, cookies, Hawaiian punch, 20 bottles of mystic, & pure crap.

On the plus side, NC is removing the ABAWD waiver. So if you're 18-49, able but unwilling to work, & no kids you'll be limited to receiving foodstamps for 3 months in 36-month period.

Or be spending your dope money or your kids.Theres no excuse for not takin care of your kids,they didn't ask to be made and if your not willin to take care of them give em up to somebody who will.

Flame away haters.
Internet thugs are antisocial peeps trying to have a "real" life.
Kids should be fed and nurtured despite the parents. Not one child decided what kinda lifestyle they were born into.
Think about it.
