NC Inspection Laws??

Blaze

DMV's are the same all over, I'm from NJ and the DMV there is worst!!! In NJ all lifted trucks over 4" have to pass a stability test. We all just have to deal with it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

NJ DMV

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

oh god those guys are the WORST
In NJ they have 4 inspection sites for lifted or alternatively modified vehicles. If your lift or modification is such that you cannot pass at a normal inspection station or you want to object to a ruling you have to appeal at those 4 stations.

M-F and the hours are like 8-4. They have a bunch of BS tests you have to pass in order to get a sticker.

SCREW jersey.

::edit::
wait
did I mention that they have 4 in the ENTIRE state!

I think i hit a nerve!!! I moved for the nicer weather and get away from the $3500 year car insurance.

Can't get an answer from anyone, can somone help?
Once the V6 goes in my 2000 F150 i would like to install a 70's 302/351 V8, anyway i can do this and past inspection?
Thanks

No

to be legal it must be the same year or newer and have all of the emisions that came on the newer engine for the year it was made.

Yep, on my brother's 89 Formula they failed him for lack of catalytic converter. Even though it is safety only.

Fuck the DMV, they can suck every inch of my asshole. They have cost me so much time and frustration over the years.

Back in college they had a glitch in their computer and showed that my license was suspended, even though I had never gotten a ticket or been in an accident. A power hungry deputy sheriff in Tyrell County put me in handcuffs at a license checkpoint because of it. Then I had to pay a lawyer to get it taken care of, even though it wasn't my fault AT ALL and they ADMITTED TO IT!

And if that wasn't bad enough, it happened AGAIN a year later! Although the trooper believed me and was cool about it and didn't ticket me, I still had to get my dad to come pick me up on the side of the road.

And now they lost my waiver paperwork to extend the inspection period on my TA, so I have no registration and a $57 charge on my account.

Fuckers.

I have to LMAO on this. NC is Such a Friendly State when it comes to emission testing.

I used to live in Califorina and all vehicles ( 1975+)had to pass a Snif test while hooked up and Running on Dyno at High way speeds. as well as the ODBII. (no safety inspection though)

I am Sure NJ and NY are simular as well as many other state.

buy a pre 96 and swap the vins..........i shouldnt type what i think <----DO NOT DO THIS
Best bet is to sell the truck and buy an older one, swap to the 5.4 or get land in a no obdII county and register it there. Doing a body swap onto an older frame will also fail due to vins (under windsheild, door, frame etc) not matching.
ITs not so much the DMV that is the problem, yes the enforce the laws but it is the EPA that came up with this money making scheme.
BTW the enforcment officer in newton is kinda hot she has curly hair and carrys a glock...

Thanks for all the info. I think i'll just tweak the V6 for street driving and later build a older F150.

stabilty test? wtf um lets see here those trucks on four wheels: pass, but this truck here "man you know you can't run these things on three wheels. whats your problem jr."

They require you to pass a test where the place weight sensors under the tires and lift up one side at a time to see if the rig "tips" too much, they sometimes us a ramp like a rti ramp to test it, The guys on Pirate deal with this all the time. They have gone as far as changing out shackles to lower the jeep so they don't have to have it tested.

I would think that a ''custom'' rig would have to have some major changes from its stock form in order to qualify. I am sure somewhere in the DMV wording it defines a "custom" rig.
