Looking to buy a 40’ container. Got 2 quotes so far dropped in my yard.
a.) $3,550
b.) $3,920.
Besides the price difference what do I need to be asking. Both of the above quotes are for what they grade as “wind and water tight”. Both provide the same “warranty”. Who has bought one and from where? If you know someone who sells them let me know and if they are close in price I’ll absolutely give them my business. Delivery would be in Aberdeen, NC. (28315). Thanks.

I paid $4k for my 40ft extra tall (9ft) and had it painted and delivered.

Also had them install vents and insect screen on each end.

Zeno Marshall in midway....no way he'd deliver to YOU without charging an arm and a leg

Ive purchased two.
One came from:

the other from:

Both were easy enought to deal with but more expensive than Id have liked.

Though the 45' from L&L was cheaper than the numbers you are quoting. But it was 3 years ago

Have you called Maxwell Portable Storage in Fayetteville yet? I bought one from them for work a couple years ago (40 footer, high cube) and it was around $3300 or so delivered to Bragg. That was the best price in the area at the time.

I got a 40ft high cube(9’6”)wind and water tight from upstate containers out of South Carolina for $2925 delivered that was in March of 2020.
Not sure how far they deliver out but the driver said that had storage yards all over

Just sent them an email. Thanks.

I bought mine from this guy:

He has the containers he is selling in his possession, on his lot. You can pick the exact one he will deliver. And you don't pay until he drops it. Price was competitive when I got mine 2 years ago.

BTW, I put a solar powered fan in mine....keeps the inside temp bearable in the summer. Next step is to get an open roof over it (which will continue down slope as my tractor shed).

I used a bilge pump fan (4"), solar panel, and a voltage regulator (max output 12v to avoid burning out the fan).

This might not be a bad way to go from amazon, probably move more air:

I assume all of you are in the County. I'm trying to figure if I want a carport, & how much enclosure, a building, or storage container? Just looking to store a car in. The Containers are probably not wide enough, to be able to open the car door. Not looking to climb in & out like Denny Hamlin! But I called the City Code enforcement, & aske about "Permits". Even for a cheap basic carport, I need a Permit. I also have to file a plan with them for site location, size, bla, bla, bla. As I move up the line toward Buildings, I would probably Also need a County permit. Storage containers > not allowed in the City.

Storage containers > not allowed in the City.
But what if you had a shed that was remarkably square?
Buy a container and put the cheapest angled roof you can on it.

Neighbor and I have been talking about this. We both want to build sheds. Needless to say they are rediculously expensive right now. He suggested maybe we just split the cost of a container and put it right on the property line.
It's rea;ly tempting. A 10x020 shed kit is easily $2500 or more. A 20' container is ~$3k. But splitting a 40-footer makes it a way better deal by the sq ft...

Seems less shipping-containerish to just build a shed. But I also just don't like shipping containers for most applications because they are too narrow. There are definitely some advantages and disadvantages to both. Here's shed pricing from R&R out of Morganton:

In 2020, we bought around 30 containers at work to store stuff out of the way because of the china virus. We like using them because they require no permit. They consider them "non-permanent structures". The county we are in are dicks with all the permitting stuff so we used shipping containers.

If I were to get one for the house I would look at these folks. I don't know if they deliver to you so you'll have to check;

Another thing... too keep the humidity down in them, you need to get them up off the ground. I got mine at problably 6" on the low side, and 14 on the high side. Put them flat on the ground, you'll get moisture coming thru the floor.

Even a 40-footer, you only have to support them at the corners.

We put several on railroad ties. They last for about 10-15 years then die. I will be making "concrete railroad ties" for the next one. Seems easy enough to pour and level out.
