If you are having trouble oxyfuel cutting thinner materials go to a smaller tip ex: 0, 00, or even 000, and or decreasing your working pressures to slow your travel speed, and narrow your kerf width. I've had good success with 00 tips cutting 1/8 through 1/2, with only changing working psi. Much slower than using a larger tip, but a better cut.
It's difficult to get your travel speed fast enough, and kerf width narrow enough on thinner materials.
