Need help... stuck in the mud near intersection of Uzzle/Moriah Roads, Rougemont

Well, what I was doing was heading down to the pond, like I always do, to check the back of the property and pull the deer stands and video cam, etc. My adult daughter said, "Mommy, don't take your truck down there, you'll get stuck." To which I responded "Nah, it'll be fine...." I don't think I can count the number of times I have been reminded that I was told, specifically, by my one and only child, not to do something which I then did and have been suffering the consequences of ever since. Kinda like the, "no really, don't touch the stove, IT"S HOT" argument. I did, however, have plenty of help burying it up to the axles. I quit spinning the tires about 6 inches before the side steps touched the ground. In all seriousness, when I got out to lock the hubs ('cause the dang things refuse to lock automagically), I sunk about two inches myself. I'm a big girl, but not THAT big. I knew I was sunk after that... pun intended. I've gotten other vehicles out of messes, but none of those were long beds. Live and learn....

You ain't stuck that bad if you can open your door w/o letting the mud on the floorboard and don't have to step up to get out of the truck or climb out the window  . The side steps or runnin boards will doom you when you get that " Oh Shit ! ", sinking like a torpedoed ship feeling.... but i've never had that happen before........ever ;) I've also never stepped out into kneedeep mud, w ancle high shoes or barefooted, pants rolled up to lock hubs because I did'nt need 4wd to make it o_O I think you'da been fine w some larger, wider AT tires on that Ford :driver: ......... But if it's that wet next year why not ride the horses down there and pack or drag the stands out on them?

It looks like your mixing batter for an enormous mud cake in those first pics.

If you go out there on a cold night when the ground/mud is frozen, it might pop right out. The problem in the winter is all of the moisture from rain/snow freezes/thaws day and night and the earth becomes "fluffy" for lack of a better term, it gets real soft. Then you sink into the unfrozen muck and well.....

I think if you had another truck with a 9k or better winch on it, it would come out when that crap freezes.

Did you get it out yet?? it looks like it's snowing up there now! Need pics of the recovery.

It hasn'nt been cold enough to freeze the ground in a few weeks around here and takes days of cold temps and clouds to do that, the nightime freezing is enough to frost up the windows very nicely (see pics) but not the ground much, the grass helps keep it warm and evedently very wet in her pasture!!

Henrietta is out, she's had a bath and is home resting comfortably. Pics to follow in a little bit. Many thanks to Lee. If we hadn't been chatting at him incessantly, he'd of been done in 15 minutes.

Not sure how the upload will take so here is the sequence 651,652,653, and 657 starting point.
661, 663, 664 - 2/3rd out and done with the winch. Thankfully there was a tree nearby or I think this would have been a different extraction, and probably on another day. 669, 670, 671 ,674 After she was out.

676 bathed and ready for a night out (on the street).

Again, many thanks to Lee for getting me out of this mess. Finally, I can tell my daughter enough is enough. I was very pleasantly surprised by the outreach from all of you, the comments, and of course, the ribbing. I look forward to heaping some in your direction when the oppty arises. :)

Henrietta is scheduled for a for a bit of a make-over. I'll post pics when she's done.

Pics?
Oh and Warriormom, if you talk in the horse people circle, please be sure to tell your friends that the 4x4 guys helped you out without even knowing you. A little good PR never hurts.
Kudos to Lee!
It will be my pleasure. One good turns deserves another and I will be more than happy to retell this story to anyone who will sit still long enough to hear it. I can be very persuasive when I wanna be....

congrats, and kudos to lee for coming out in the snow. (nice dodge lee) Warriormom needs a winch! glad your out.

Glad you got out w/o breaking something. That was awesome of Lee to do this.
It only costs like $5 to become a member of this forum. It might would help keep this forum going to help other people out in the future.

Done. Glad you mentioned it... I hadn't noticed the subscription tab earlier. LOOK I already got my orange diamond.. :D

Sweet trucks! Looks like that was pretty fun. I love a good extraction story, although my last call went horribly wrong and I wound up like the F350, only worse. Diffs on the ground with 39s in clay.

Good deal. Now don't be a stranger. Sell the horses and go out and buy you a Jeep crawler and hook up with one of the clubs and wheel with us. Sounds like you enjoy this kind of stuff anyhow. You already have a great tow truck.

Glad i was able to lend a hand. Kinda funny this happened about 3 miles from the house. Amazing how nc4x4 was able to connect us. Especially after the truck had been stuck 3 weeks.

Thanks for the compliments on the truck. It actually used to be a Wheeler until i had a 12 point buck broadside the truck at 55 mph one night and total it. I rebuilt it to what it is now but that for another thread

3 weeks? Looks like you had plenty of time to order a lift and some bigger tires.
