need some buggy vs truck advice or opinions

ill be keeping an eye on how this goes. I plan on taking a sawzall to everything behind the cab on mine in the future, maybe next winter, and doing a tube rear, 4 link setup myself.

Yours is to nice to do that to haha

Thank you. Way i see it though all that rigid framing and stiff rear springs are hindering its capability. It flexes some in the rear but not as good as it could with a 4 link suspension. I will have to get a fuel cell to do that so might as well cut it all off and start from scratch in the back! lol

What rear spring are you running? Mine didn't flex till I put orbital ball shackle mounts on it you could try that @4wheelBUM

im running 4" trail gear rear springs. I have thought about taking a leaf out but im very light in the rear so i dont know how much i will gain for the trouble of taking the springs out and apart. I think i will just wheel it the way it is until im ready to 4 link it and sale the springs, fuel tank and fuel pump.

Took some measurements of my current somewhat capable rig taking what I like and don't like into consideration

I'm gonna do a 4 link out back and the front I'm not sure if I'm gonna do a 3 link or 4 probably 3. I already bought 14" airshocks and 16 coilovers

My opinion is decide what would be your dream build, then figure out if you can do anything close to it with what you have. Do not go the path that most everyone takes: truck> hardcore truck> truggy> buggy.

If you know you'll never want a buggy, then build the bad ass truggy. But if you think there is any chance on going buggy down the road, do not waste money or sacrifice performance by trying to adapt what you have.

That's the advice a lot of guys gave and what I decided to do. I knew I would build a buggy one day and I'm working on it now buying the big money parts as I find deals.

Going to be very similar to these lines except the grill hoop

Yeah that's a bent Fab evo2 I'm waiting on them to give the dimensions to see if it will work. @jaybird1ton

I'm at the same point you are. I originally built my truggy with the intent to be somewhat street legal, capable and get me back on the trail ASAP. Just wanted it to be built once, small mods as needed and stay reliable, meanwhile collect parts and build a buggy. I like the cab to keep the weather out(not so much since the tube doors), but also being on the borderline of legal midget, the cab hinders me from seeing well. The whole cab thing is cool, but a wide open feel of a buggy is wayyy more cool.

Actually cutting the roof and exo off mine tomorrow after work and redoing some things. Link the back of yours, cut the sheet metal off and add tube, way simpler than starting over from scratch.

And Bent Fab does have some really cool chassis, that are really simple and clean.
