let's just go remove the bypasses at Helo pad and guardrail....
Sounds good to me

let's just go remove the bypasses at Helo pad and guardrail....

The bypass at Guardrail is almost as bad as the obstical now...
When we were at Dixie Run this year, we got to Guard Rail and I watched a group ahead of us work on it forever...Decided I would do the bypass...again...Then watched the last 3 in that group have to winch on the bypass....Figured...If I'm gonna have to winch. It's gonna be on the obstical...I'd MUCH rather run up guardrail than take the "bypass"...
shoot...I'd rather winch up guardrail than take the bypass if it came down to it...

I say just be glad you have a trail. Where i live the idiots were tearing the trails up needlessly o they shut them down for everythign EXCEPT 4 wheelers
okay, i retract my previous comments then. my whole issue was that there is already a bypass in place there. the way the original post was worded, it sounded like a second even easier bypass had been created. Most people don't know that, and think it's a bypass so I worded it so.
what kind of logic is that? lets just go ahead and "legally" detroy a section of natural land before other people do? how about lets come down on the asshats that go off the trail instead.A bypass my take a small part of the natural layout away, but it keeps it from being destroyed if it's not a planned project.
exaclty... so why don't we fight this rather than giving in to them? land closures also occur when there is excessive erosion, etc. in places. even the legal bypasses add to this.A lot of land closures happen because of people going off the trail and abusing it.
no, i don't. if you're of the opinion my comments/thoughts are wrong just because you don't agree with them, you're the one that needs a head check. i can at least respect and can see your point of view here even though i don't agree with it.Rufus, dude, need to rethink your comments. A check up from the neck up, because you have some stinkin' thinkin'
thanks, i have in years past. unfortunately 2007 will be out for me. due to a recent motorcycle accident, i won't be able to walk for about a year, if then. needless to say i wouldn't be much helpRufus, you are welcome and invited to attend some workdays

again, that's where my confusion was. i agree the existing bypass is needed, as long as people can be kept from using it like a parking lot.No "new" bypass was made as Mark already said
unfortunately, that's alot of the traffic problem up there in my experience. too many onlookers parking on the bypass to hang out and watch. out of the way parking is very limited.get addicted to the sport when they park at the top of Kodak area, walk down with cameras, lunch in hand to watch the crazy guys try the insane lines.
as i responded to upnover's similar comment, i can't say i understand this thought process. i understand enforcement and man power to fight against such things is limited, but i don't think that makes it acceptable to just give in. again, i agree bypasses have their place in the trail system for other reasons but not for that. The LEGAL bypasses are put into place to keep ATV's and other offenders from carving their own ILLEGAL bypasses.
One point I have made at the meetings is that by giving a legal bypass then the excuse "I didn't know" doesn't fly. In the past some of the tickets given for being off the trail have been dismissed in court because of "I didn't know".i don't see how giving them bypass really solves the problem. they'll just continue to fly off in to the woods at other places as it suits them.
also, what message is this sending to those people? hey, if we ride off the trail in one spot enough it'll eventually be made legal?
due to a recent motorcycle accident, i won't be able to walk for about a year, if then.

no one is opposing haveing a bypass there, even me. my issue was with it sounded like an additional bypass was created which isn't the case.I am surprised to hear that anyone who frequents URE thinks a bypass around the Kodak rock garden area is a bad idea
good point. to make sure i understand, if a legal bypass is in place, it's easier to prosecute if people use an illegal bypass? One point I have made at the meetings is that by giving a legal bypass then the excuse "I didn't know" doesn't fly
I think they should build a parking lot with picnic benches and everything right on RML.

Yes, no excuse "I couldn't make so I had to go off the trail."to make sure i understand, if a legal bypass is in place, it's easier to prosecute if people use an illegal bypass?
The "new" bypass is before and after the rock garden.Aggressive1 said:The rock garden has 3 existing bypass now right? Its before and after the garden that needs addressing.
Did you run schoolbus on Friday?I was at the Dixie Run in October. I didn't go up the guardrail bypass, but I did come down it.
I was at the Dixie Run in October. I didn't go up the guardrail bypass, but I did come down it. I am full width with 39.5 boggers. Had no issue. What's the difference when going up it?
