boy how do I love how new car dealers like to bait and switch and expect me to either not notice or care. Really?

On to the next one I guess...

Ok. Rant over. :)

Try buying a new RV. Never been lied to as much in my life as when we were shopping. Finally bought from the one guy that, although he was full of BS, at least shut up when I told him he was about to lose a sale. Then had to deal with the dealerships closer. ... he was a piece of work.

My last 3 vehicle purchases were enjoyable. Since I didn't need their financing and really didn't need the vehicles I just didn't give a crap. Before even going there I already made up my mind on what I wanted and how much I was willing to pay for it. The second things began to not go my way I was out of the chair and headed for the door. Has been effective. They didn't always give in but that's fine, I didn't either and I went on to find a deal that pleased me.

I've got a friend that bought a new car a few years ago. They didn't have what he wanted on the lot, so they ordered it. Call him a few days later, he goes to pick it up, and it is the wrong color. But he takes it anyway!!:shaking:

My 2 new car purchases have been enjoyable, and used purchase from Liberty GMC near Charlotte was fine. Its usually the small dealerships that go bad for me.

My favorite is them trying to pin ya down on your max. monthly payment.

Man, I hate that so much. "What are you trying to stay around for your monthly payment?"

I could afford a brand new Z06 Corvette if you let me finance it for 20 years, but I'd rather buy something I can pay off in three years.

I just got the wife a New Ford Escape from the Ford place in High Point and the salesman was awesome....we told him what we wanted and he said he couldnt do it and was talking $hit about all the used cars they had on the lot and how all the other salesman were crooks, and how he only does this to have money to spend on his grandkids......then a day later (after we had already moved on to another dealership) he called back and got us the car for the terms we wanted, turns out he never gave up and kept working for us. We were upside down on our trade in which made what we wanted difficult, but he came through for us.....His name was Jerry @ Crescent Ford of High Point

that rant sucked, ya gotta have more.

yup I hate that shit. They don't seem to understand "I don't care about that, I care about what it costs."
That, and "So what are you driving now?" and trying to factor that into the sale.

You know, this is a large, diverse community, and we have people from all over the auto industry - but I don't think I've ever seen anybody vouch up here to being a new car salesman...

Weak rant, yes. I was in a hurry.

Agreed on a truck but not in $. I wasn't signing anything without seeing the truck. I just don't spend $62k without seeing what I'm buying first. They couldn't produce the pics of the truck they found that I wanted, just the window sticker. (The truck we agreed upon was 7 hours away, not on their lot). They agreed to bring the truck in. I said I think we can find a happy medium on the truck and mine but they were still less than what I was willing to let my truck go for. They seemed like we could work it out. This was Saturday.

Calls and texts on Monday to come on in, their driver is on "standby". Um, no. Not wasting 5 more hours. Finally truck comes in, and it isnt the one I want. (Don't want Oxford white, want platinum white. No I don't want the $1800 optional chrome package...). Bait and switch. Not the same color. Not the same seats. Not the same this and that... Not buying. Not what I want. Not what we agreed on.

They are upset that they took a chance and brought a truck in without anything signed and want me to reimburse for delivery. Nope. Not the truck we agreed on. Too bad. Don't want to give me what my truck is worth in trade? Nope. No sale, not today.

Frustrating spending time to buy what I want and get the hassle of trying to get something else pushed on to me.

For $62k, it damn well better be the EXACT truck I want. Maybe another day...

No shit. This isn't chump change. My first house was only 50% more.

In other news - holy fuckmonkey, is this what trucks are up to now? Thats 2 pretty nice sedans.

2 sedans, 4 Kias, 6 whatevers... Still won't pull a decent trailer and keep my candy ass from melting with the cooled seats. :)

I've found that as I get older, I like having the extra bells and whistles. Keeps me happy (and most importantly the kids and wife)

I can never see a usefulness of leather seats in a truck. Do I need a back up camera? No, I use the mirrors and turn my head. Is there really a point to an electric sliding back glass? F no.......

As one of the guys tasked with working on all the bells and whistles for, as you put it, "candy ass" customers, it is a pain in the ass that so much stupid useless junk that people went without for DECADES is now considered "got-to-haves". I will admit, power folding mirrors are nice for pulling a truck between lift posts. Other than that, I have no practical use for some of the junk. 6 cd changer, not needed; Bluetooth, not needed; satellite radio, not needed; even power windows, NOT NEEDED! People cranked windows for 50 years and now you can't even get them. Base model XL trucks have standard power windows.....even construction workers are too damn lazy to crank a window. People have the audacity to wonder why the world is going to shit? It's because the majority of people in the world are too lazy or too busy texting to crank a window down. It "NEEDS" to go all the way down with one push......NO THE F*~K IT DOESN'T!

My wife better be happy I put gas in her car, keep it running, and come out at 10 o'clock at night in my damn pj's to rescue her on the side of the road when she forgot to get gas. If she wants bells and whistles, she can get the loan and pay it herself. If she wants to ride with me, she can ride in whatever I drive. If that isn't good enough, stay at home.
Rant over......

With all that said, to each there own and if bells and whistles are how you choose to spend your money, than that is your choice and I have no right or reason to say you shouldn't. It's one of the joys of living with the freedom of choice. Best of luck to you in your dealership woes.

Back up camera - One shot trailer hookups solo
Blue Tooth - driving, taking notes AND talking on the phone. Seriously. Would be a deal breaker forever more for me.
Leather seats? hell yes I work in construction cloth doesnt clean nearly as easy.

I can fix all of those without the extra features or money:

Practice
Speakerphone
Seat Cover (disposable too!)

HAHAHAHA!!!!! :D

Leather seats are great. They clean easily. Being in construction and with kids, that is a bonus. Plus, when I spill my Starbucks latte, I don't have to sit in a wet seat. Simply wipe up and roll on! The Grey Poupon wipes up easily as well the caviar won't stain leather. ;)

Backup camera is damn nice when backing up to a trailer. I have multiple trailers and it makes it damn nice to do it once and be done. Mine has paid for itself 10 fold.

Cooled seats. Well, if you haven't ever had them, then it's hard to relate. They are nice. ;)

As I get older I've come to realize I don't have to live in a 800sq ft house and drive an old beat up work truck. Does my truck really need to be a diesel? Sure they all will work for the intended purpose, but it's no fun.

I work way too much to not enjoy what I've been working for.

To each their own I guess. :)

Maybe the next dealer will be more receptive to what I want.

Why do you need a truck anyway??? You don't. You want a truck. People have been using livestock for thousands of years. Why don't you use mules instead of a truck???

Aw hell. Society has gone to hell because we want to have something remotely modern and efficient...

I like Bluetooth, its how I listen to music that the radio and satellite stations don't want to play. You know, good music.

I really draw the line at things like power liftgates on SUVs that open when you wave your foot under the bumper or whatever. That's a completely new level of lazy. That and the one touch door closer buttons, for the same reason. If you can't be bothered to close your trunk by hand, you shouldn't own a car. I wanted a manual transmission so my hands and feet dont get bored, why would I want things that open and close by themselves?

Oh, and Facebook connected cars. Why the fucking fuck do you need to access Facebook directly through your car?

I'm not a fan of the powered close hatch but I've seen the benefits of it with my 98lb 5' tall sister in law versus the lift gate on her Tahoe.

She can just push the button and be done rather than tying on an extension rope to pull it down on the days when there isn't a Good Samaritan nearby to help.

:)

She needs a rope on the tailgate?

My response as an engineer is that she bought a car that doesn't properly fit her needs. :D

My wife's Venza had remote hatch and it was handy. Especially with hands full of groceries.

Now cooled seats... like you said I don't know if I could do without those from now on. Also, I thought the heated steering wheel was stupid but Monday morning in Banner Elk at 11 degrees with a wind chill of -bazillion it was quite nice.

I understand the whole Bluetooth thing - but you can buy a damn nice aftermarket radio with that shit built in and install it yourself for waaaay less than what it costs as part of the whole package BS.
I agree w/ the push-button van doors and van/suv motorized liftgates. I see that shit and think (1) that's just lazy and (2) that's just more crap that will be broken and a pain to deal with later.

The Old saying about "Don't burn your bridges"? Well, I'm waiting on my "Ordered" truck, before I do. I actually have 2 on order. When they come in, from 2 different dealers, it's Who gives me the Best deal! But I will say, As Soon as I can get 100% Done with "Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet", the RANT will be Awesome!:flipoff:
