New ccw laws passed in NC

I do that now..

Me too.

Difference between now and then is the gun is smaller, holds more rounds, no one knows I'm carrying it and I don't use it to settle disagreements. Just to protect myself and my family.

Best news for us with CCW's in a while. Love the line by Faircloth, finally a quote from a realist makes it into the papers.

Rep. John Faircloth, R-Guilford, a former police chief, said that the college provision merely makes legal something that already happens as parents pick up students or businessmen meet with university executives.
"Let's don't fool ourselves, there are guns on our campuses," Faircloth said.

Where do you stand medevack?

Do you believe that only cops and soldiers should have guns? Your posts confuse me.

NO i believe every AMERICAN should be able to excersize their hard earned 2nd ammendment......I know i sure as hell earned it.....OK let me explain it Back in the wild wild west everyone who could afford a side arm, carried it, that was the second thing they would make sure they had on when getting dressed, there was NO law saying you had to have a CCW to have one or where you could take it. Then the Law made it to where you had to take a CCW class and apply for the CCW permit and there were only certain places you could have your weapon, now they passed the law to where you can carry just about anywhere, and soon you would be able to strap a side arm on your side when you get up in the morning and off to work. The point I’m trying to explain is that history is coming back around when it comes to carrying a weapon in public.

Medevack1.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

I'm just going to chalk this up to a misunderstanding and ignore you. Fair deal?

Shouldn't this thread be in The Garage?
Why? it's not political nor is it offensive. it's informational, I feel it should be out there for the world to see.

Even if we have to many New yorkers here now, I am sure that with Bloombergs B.S. many will be googleing this state & many others looking to move from suck a liberial dictatorship..

I search for more info on the bill and I find very little. What I do find is an article asking people what they think about the new law allowing folks to carry guns in bars and consume alcohol?

http://www.wbtw.com/story/22928777/sweeping-concealed-weapons-law-changes-for-nc-gun-owners

What? That's still and will always be illegal. Just because you go in a bar or restaurant doens't mean you have to drink.

I wanna go live in the woods.

I have to agree, "Just because you go in a bar or restaurant doens't mean you have to drink." A responsible and intelligent person will not consume alcohol if they are carring a weapon inside a restaurant or bar, Its plain and simple, guns and alcohol dont mix. Im sure the majority of restaurants and bars will post "No Guns allowed" at their front door. Just like Walmart and other places.

Walmart does not do this..

And... Paul & Brad need to knock off the BS... or... the elder members of this forum may have to straighten you out... again!!! :shaking:

Correct. The bill was delivered to him today for his signature and it seems extremely likely he will sign it.

Im head of security for a resturaunt that after 10 o clock turns into a high volume bar. The new law now allows people to carry into my bar. While im for removing restrictive gun laws im not sure how I feel about someone walking through my bar with a firearm on his side. Drinking or not. Ive been debating how to handle ybis issue at the door.

While I would share that concern, when I think about it.

Who would go to a bar, late at night and not drink? What's the point?

If it were me, (and not everyone is thankfully) and I planned to drink, I'd secure the firearm. I didn't go through the hassle of getting my CHP to get it revoked and go to jail.

If you are capable of enough lomg term thinking to get your CHP, you hopefully are capable of choosing to carry or drink, before you start drinking.

If they carry and they are drinking they're breaking the law.

^^ So your head bouncer? Job sucks, I did that in NYC for a couple winters..

Put a sign on the door, "no guns after (insert time here) allowed."

Youd be surprised how many I catch who just forgot it was there or "didnt know they couldnt" including 2 cops.

It's not only the person carring that would be a concern. Weapon retention is a big concern too. A drunk can steel a gun from a patron that is sober..

yeah I can see this being a potential problem in high-volume bars that are standing-room only at times. Especially around the bar, a lot of people rubbbin' etc. Yes, I know 98% of CCW folks keep it well intact and not easy to grab, but there's just a lot of opportunity... it only takes 1 wannabe badass drunk guy and finding the right moment.

I'm all for this new change but I can certainly see the bars having their own restrictions.
