Hey Everyone!

I'm Jason from Raleigh -- just joined now that my '79 CJ7 project is finally out of the garage and I can hit some trails! Swapped in a 6.0L LQ4 out of a 2002 Yukon Denali last summer to replace a worn out 258, and finally got most of the kinks worked out over the past couple months. It's been so much fun actually driving her and not wrenching. I'm not sure how long the stock CJ7 axles will hold up to my 35s though..so let me know if you've got a line on a good 14-bolt! :)

Im Eric. Originally from Connecticut, moved to Morganton NC last year. I had a really sweet Dodge Ram 2500 V10. Pics posted allready. But now I have a fairly stock Chevy Avalanche.

I'd like to put a lift on it but I think right now buying a house/property is more important. I also have a Can-Am Outlander 800R XT

I'm new around here and looking for fun! Someone show me where all the sweet spots are.

Welcome to web wheeling!

Don't worry, last I checked we didn't have any black helicopters heading for CLT.

I'm with you on the book of faces. I go on there to check professional content and wish people happy birthday.

Hello everyone. I joined this forum to get some more info on a jeep I just purchased. 2013 Rubicon with lots of custom mods. I contacted Buckeye Performance Inc and was given a link to the various mods done to this jeep by Jason Watson. I would love to see more pics and get more info on the jeep. My cousin is the managing partner of a dealership in Florence, SC. This jeep was at their sister dealership in NC. I work for the Forest Service in Arizona and had been searching for a jeep of this caliber for some time. Unfortunately, people here do not take care of their shit. The jeeps are all expensive, with high miles and not cared for. I saw this on my cousins website and new it was the perfect jeep for me!! I called, transferred the monies and had it shipped to me in Phoenix. Im absolutely in love with this thing and am super eager to hear about its history. So... does anyone recognize it? Thank you!!

Hello NC4x4! New member. I am in the Piedmont Triad area and want to get on some trails. I live about 40 minutes from URE and a couple hours from Pisgah. I've owned Wranglers in the past (just stock) and recently got a Tacoma OR. I'd like to try to easy trails first and really looking for some areas to get my bearings. Any suggestions appreciated!

I was looking at Brown Mountain trail 1 and 8 but not sure if there's something closer to me as it's all new to me. Take care.

Welcome to NC4x4 a great place to get all kinds of information. If you are "new" and have a stock Tacoma, first place I would go to is URE. There are plenty of trails there to cut your teeth on. There are places that can bite you if you aren't paying attention too. Especially in a stock rig. Two trails to stay off if you aren't looking for body damage are Daniel and Dickie Bell. Another that may or may not be over your comfort is Dutch John. Really depends what you are comfortable with. Realistically you may be able to run them but it is all about comfort and if you are willing to bear some scratches or dents or worse on your ride. No scars no proof!:driver:

Brown Mt is open to full size rigs but mostly motorcycles and ATV's go there.

Just watch the forums and maybe post when you are able to go. Odds are someone from here will be going. Also there are always people at Eldorado outpost on 109 where you can get a pass that you might just ask to join.

I'm not "new" to the forum persay but I've never been active other than a couple of buying/selling threads, so I figured this was a good place to start. Checking in from Person County... I'm attaching a slightly old photo of my project, I just got it running and driving a couple of weeks ago. It started life as a 1942 GPW but is now a "Heinz 57" flat fender. Too many details to list here but the highlights are that it sits on 32x9.5 MTRs with Dana 30 front, 44 rear. 5.38 gears with Auburn limited slip rear. Alcan springs. '93 Mustang 2.3 with Stinger PimpX ECU, mated to the old T-90 (with Advance Adapter OD) and D18 via a home-made bellhousing. Saginaw manual steering box. 4-wheel manual discs. Mastercraft Rubicon seats, soon to be mounted to a cage with 4-point harnesses.
For those with InstaGarbage, I have a page with quite a few build photos going back to the start, and some more recent photos and videos. @willys2point3.

Good evening John from rockingham county, nc. Had no idea about this page. A gentleman told me about it after we ducked his xj at doller general. 2001 WJ, 3 inch lift. Still working on getting her perfect.have had in family since new. 1999 Mustang (my first car. purchased from dad in 2006) has been in family since 1999.2001 Mustang purchased in 2014. 2008 Siena inherited in 2013. Currently looking for another WJ since all of our kids can't fit in one WJ for wheeling. Mustangs and Jeeps have always been in the family. I have both a mopar and mustang tattoo hahaha. One goes fast. One goes anywhere. Don't understand why wranglers hardly wave at WJs lol. Deffently not ase certified in anything. Just another monkey with a tool box.

I'm Jake from Raleigh, put in for a username change but don't know when that will happen🤷‍♂️. I've lurked on here for a while doing a lot of research and finally made an account.

Anyway, got an 81 CJ7 that's been in my family for 20 years but hasn't ran in 6. Her name is Maggie. Going to build a very capable but most likely pavement princess out of her. This is going to be a very long and very expensive project... gonna take it nice and slow so I can afford it and do it right. I'm in the acquisition and rebuild/refurb phase right now just picking up good parts when they pop up and fixing them and storing them until I get the time and funds to throw it all together. Want a reliable street driving rig that can also handle moderate trails without much trouble.

What I've got so far:
- 2002 5.3l LM7 in the middle of a complete rebuild. Planning stock other than TSP stage one truck cam.
- 2001 4l60e that I'll rebuild with some beefier innards.
- D300 TC from the CJ which will be cleaned and rebuild.
- 197? J-Truck D44 (~63" wms) front and rear that will be stripped down, cleaned up and maybe upgraded.

Also going to muddle up this classic and do one of those "LJ" stretches... figure with the LS power and desire for streetability I'll widen the stance and increase the wheelbase for a "safer" ride for the family.

Here she is as she sits now (and for the last 6). Ignore the NP Tcase sitting there - came as a package deal with the tranny, not putting it in the jeep.

This is my re-introduction. I joined way back around 2006 or so. Then sold the Jeep that brought me here and was Jeep-less for a long time. I bought this XJ two years ago to be a rolling classroom for my son to learn on. It's come a long way in two years. It was 2wd when we bought it. We swapped the trans, a 242 t-case, and all the other goodies to make it 4wd. It has a mostly Old Man Emu lift with JKS bits thrown in. Smittybilt bumpers front and rear. Warn winch on the front. But like everyone else, it's a work in progress. Looking to swap gears and add lockers in the coming months before fall. But overall it's been a fantastic bonding time with my son. Hope to see you guys up around Uwharrie now and again.

Welcome back and nice XJ!

Hey I'm Geoff and live in Hickory. I moved down here last September from Illinois for work and loving NC so far. Been wheeling since 2000, started in jeeps but I now have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma with a solid axle swap, on 37s and has the usual dual cases.

Don't think I dropped a line here when I signed up in 2020, but I'm Myles local in the Concord Charlotte area. I daily an 03 6MT 4x4 Cummins 2500. Soon to be finishing up general maint. with a trans rebuild and then adding power. I'm pretty much highway built for towing. I have alot of experience with 3rd gens specifically and I'm pretty active on the TDR forums. If you're looking into getting one and have questions or want to talk trucks give me a shout.

Hello all. New here to this site. Live in the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area. Moved south from Winchester, VA for work. Currently have a lightly modded 2011 Jeep JK. This is my 4th JK and 5th Jeep overall. Yeah, it's a problem sometimes. LOL! Usually try to hit the trails 2-3 times a year. Hopefully with the move it will be more often.

Hi everyone. I'm Ryan from Raleigh and i figured I'd join up as I'm on a serious hunt for a TJ. I currently have a stock 94 ranger which I wheeled at Page Rd. in Raleigh a few times before they completely leveled that place for construction a few months ago. Raleigh is pretty lousy for 4x4ing, but there's some allright spots for dualsporting. Haven't been to unwharrie yet as the car I have is a little unreliable which is why I'm on the prowl for a good used TJ that i can depend on to get me there and back.
