I've just been informed that there is a series of powerline trails just west of Boiling Springs in Cleveland County that is open to all types of off-roading. They charge either $5 or $10 dollars a day. I've been out there(before you had to pay)and there are some pretty good trails there. Directions are take Hwy 150 west to B.S. Continue straight through traffic light (the only one in B.S.) on Cliffside Road. Turn left on Lake Houser Road. Look for sign about trails at owner's house. Pay there and go have fun.

Sounds cool. enjoy it while it last. as soon as the power company comes out there and finds out what is goin on they'll put a stop to it.

any pics?

Not yet. BTW, Duke Power just leases the land for the powerline right of way. It's still privately owned.

yeah, i know its owned by someone who gives you permission, but check the contract he had to sign. I'm not rainin on your parade or anything! i think its great the the guy opened it up for our use! i plan on checking it out depending on how tough it is (stock landrover). I wish more people would open up use of their land! what a great way to make a little money on the side!

There is no lease (at least not on my land) they just put the lines over head....I was told If I build a structure/gate they'd take it down....

i had a friend like that, same deal, but he had them put up a gate to prevent atvs from going back on the easement. then he got his parents to give out keys to us jeeps so that we could still have fun. too bad he just moved :(

X2. I shared land with CP&L and that's pretty much what they said. the field guys also said, "you don't want to be here if the lines fall or snap." I said, "no chit really?"

People have been 'wheelin' there for years. The owner just decided to capitalize one it.

I am freinds with the owner, there was lots sold on the land years ago when there was supposed to be a lake built. No lake was ever built and most of the land was all bought by family who owns the smaller lake. There is more land to ride on than just the powerline trails. You just have to know where they are.

It is a nice place to go play at. Been riding there for years, with anything from a stock nissan pickup to a MOG on 42's, theres places for everything to ride. Watch out for ATVs.

no need. directions already given. sorry to ruin the show jeff.

John, you goin sat. or sun. ??

sun? maybe

Seriously though, there are more ATV's there than you can shake a stick at sometimes. Be CAREFUL!!! At least that was my experience. You should have a nice weekend to ride though. I've only been in summer! Hot dry dustbowl when I went, but there was the rain this week. That'll help. Play in the river some, you'll like it.

:shaking:i guess that would do it if thats what we ask for . Directions to there from b.s is great how about from kannapolis that is why i asked for addy

dang, you guys are kidding me right?

from the first post alone, I googled and zoomed right in on it and even saw satellite imagery of the area.... Google is your friend :shaking:
