Hi may names Ray I'm from central vermont. Lived there all my life wheeled there since I was 13. I'm now 30. Just moved to clayton, nc. Looking to find some 4x4 wheeling buddies to build, wheel, and hang with. I'm a veteran. 9 years Vermont army national guard. Served a tour in Afghanistan 2010. I currently don't have a 4x4 since I had to sell it for themove. I had a 01jeep xj 4.0l inline six a 5speed tranny. It had 6" liftsitting on 33" 11.50 tires. Built not bought.

what ya want to build? Your money...our time. This state is pretty open as to what you can do. Just build it safe is all we ask. There are bus loads of nuns and children everywhere.
Oh and welcome to the Old North State and NC4x4.

still undecided on what I want to build. gotta start my new job and figure out what kinda budget ill have. I like jeeps and there really budget friendly to build. but im keeping myself open.

Welcome, thank you for your service! Clayton is full, find somewhere else to live :flipoff2:

Welcome! I don't think I've ever seen a factory 5 speed xj past about 98 or 99. Did you swap the 5 speed in? NC does have inspections state wide don't they?

Welcome to the state and thank you for your service.

Oh and pay the $$$ for a red diamond (you wont regret it:huggy:)

Welcome!! I would honestly recommend finding a group before purchasing a rig. That opens you up to more localised vehicle knowledge/support and a plethora of hand me down parts.

There is a workday this weekend at Uwharrie. Maybe someone on here could take you there and meet some of the locals?

The 5 speed was factory on the 01 xj. I try to stay away from drama. I'm really leaning towards getting another xj I like having a smaller rig when off reading. But at the same time I want a truck. So I might try to find an mj or a ranger or an s10.
