The idea of news media in itself, why would they tell you anything that wasn't beneficial to them or for there agenda? Misinformed and easily swayed populations is what they want so why would they give you the truth unless it moves there narrative or agenda forward.

clicks on web sites and viewers on tv = revenue. over the top coverage with misleading headlines leads to more clicks, more viewers more money. deliberate false stories and media generated crap like the "racial" division in america leads to more clicks, more viewers over a longer term and more money. add in the bonus of manipulating folks in order to push an agenda you get a bonus on top of your clicks, viewers, money. hell, you can't even watch the damn weather channel without them overtly or covertly shoving in some of their political point of view crap.
