While driving my 2000 jeep tj today it died on me and would not start...In the odo it showed NO BUS...I am going to check fuses tomorrow but does anyone else have any ideas about what it could be?

check computer fuses/connector.. sounds like dash <-> computer is down.. more likely te computer side since it just died on you. however if a fuse blows, there is a reason so. look for raw/burnt wiring..

so if I understand what I am reading correctly a jeep runs off of one major bus...so technically if one major component or wire on the bus goes out you pull a "NO BUS"? If that is correct can anyone tell me what all components run on that bus?

Gunna give this a try as well

"I hope this might help other blokes not to spend hours on the forum trying to work out why the darn thing won't fire up:
The exact same thing happened to me, it just died on the motorway. Symptoms were: It would turn but it wouldn't start, fuel and temp gauges remained at 0, key transponder light was on and "no bus" displayed on the odo. After checking all relays and fuses I read that it could be the cranshaft position sensor so got a new one from the dealership, replaced it and it fired up right away. If you experience similar symptoms follow the wires from the sensor and unplug it from the harness near the back end of the fuel rail. If your gauges go back to normal you've found the culprit."

Yup- when the crank sensor shorts on a JTEC controller, it can take down the BUS. With the key on, unplug the crank sensor connector, if you suddenly herar things "wake up", you know the culprit- the crank sensor.

Any sensor on the 5 volt reference can cause the bus to lock up.

Lemme know if I can help ya

My 00 tj does the same thing. NO BUS. I give it a smack on the dash and all the gauges come back alive. I think my problem is due to the cheap quadratec key switch i put in. I can also push in the clutch and cycle the key off and back on let off clutch and gauges come back on. Mine has never cut off though. Hope it is just my key switch.
