No more inspection stickers

If I'm reading all this correctly, the inspections will NOW coincide with tag renewal?

Tom (My neighbor) just got his new machine up at the shop, he and I were talking over the fence about it last night. No tag renewal without the Inspection. No Inspection, No tags, which in turns expires your tags and you get to pay the fine for that too.

No more going a few months without getting your inspection and then having your buddy up at the shop backdate your inspection. You can get away with that the first time, but not anymore.

So, does the inspection date coincide with the tag renewals? :flipoff2:

Wonder what massive PITA will happen with the Moss' tags now? Since it was manufactured in Dec. '71, I haven't had it inspected for "several" years. Wonder if the states database will show it under the 35 y/o law and not ream me for an inspection that doesn't need to exist?

The safety inspection didn't use to be monitered. (I.E. you wouldn't get a notice if you didn't get it inspected.) You will now because they've put it in the computer so it will be monitered.

That's funny, for several now years myself & others have got the "love letters" from the state saying get it inspected or unregister/forfeit the tags

Yeh, this blows major goat. My Samurai and cab truck don't have current inspections, and probably won't pass so I'll be screwed into turning in the tags and driving them only offroad unless I can find a friend.:flipoff2: A friend who would like to meet a good friend of mine by the name of Benjamin Franklin.

 One of my favorite movie scenes is from "Class", where Rob Lowe's character, "Skip" goes into a liqueur store for bottle. The attendant looks at him (obviously underage) and asks "How old are you?". Skip pulls a Benjamin and says "100!"

Well, I went on the DMV site last Saturday and renewed the registration for my cab truck despite the site telling me not to proceed unless I had a current inspection. The renewed registration showed up today. The truck hasn't been inspected in probably 3 yrs. Go figure. Maybe the system will only stop you from renewing the registration on OBDII vehicles? Or maybe they don't have all the bugs worked out yet.

And there's people who want the Gov. to run health care...they can't get the damn DMV running right!

They are giving it 3 years to catch every one up. They said at first then changed it to 3

Yeah, it's been like this for years. You haven't been able to just not inspect a vehicle and not have the DMV send you a nasty letter, then a 250.00 fine.

Unless you just fell through the cracks somehow.

And I have zero sympathy for anyone who can't get their ragged-ass junk to pass.....get it legal. It's not like this is something new, and it's not like a safety inspection (which is all that pre-96 cars get, anyway) is a bad thing.

Go up to Ohio or some other state that doesn't have inspections and look at the crap driving around there, then tell me it's a bad thing that a state wants you to have good tires, lights, etc. on your car.

Yea... Zero sympathy? It's not like we are on the "We drive dangerous death traps and screw you fourm" What the hell? You must drive a stock :gay: pink jeep. We're not talking about driving with bald tires, We just don't want to have to take the tag off our tow rig to to ride on forest land.

I guess all of my pre 96 vehicles fell through the cracks. The only way that part was ever enforced on older cars was when you got stopped by the law for doing something else, or at a roadblock. However, thay now sent me a letter telling me i can't renew my tags that expire this month, due to no inspection, it's never been inspected, but I guess i'll need to do it finally.

I wonder if motorcycles are now stickerless? That'd be great!!
