I love the Hendrix (I'm not a musician, but I know how to spell his last name) version, but that was a different era and it wasn't being sung.
That said, the National Anthem deserves respect, IMO, it's not cool for an artist to take it upon themselves to stretch it out with some "yelling", "screaming", or anything other than original. IMO, listening to it sung "professionally" and respectfully will never get boring.
