So after a short wheeling trip a while back with the front locker engaged(and 38's), my 97 Land Cruiser has had no assistance from the PS.

I have(finally) replaced the pump, installed an overkill cooler, and even replaced the gear box. STILL no PS?

Also filled with new Royal Purple fluid. Thanks Will! :flipoff2:

I am stumped. No noise, no whining, no bubbles in the res. Turn the steering wheel lock to lock with tires off ground, no binding.

Just no help from PS.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Good call, Alex. I did order a new pressure hose, thinking it may be blocked, the return line is no longer available, so I will blow it out when I replace the pressure hose.

This is pretty much the last thing keeping me from going wheeling, so wish me luck!

Where did you get the pump/what brand? Rebuilt pumps actually work about 1/4 the time in my experience.

Low mileage used factory Toyota pump. Did not buy an aftermarket pump for that exact reason.

Also, may be important to add, this engine (1FZ-FE) uses a gear driven pump driven by the timing gears.
