Non-Emissions State Inspections

Last year, my 79 showed "Required", but I was told to ignore it. I bought the sticker on-line; no problem. This year it shows "Not Required". Might take them a year or 2, to catch up.

Side Note> Had a Grand Cherokee, pull out in front of me today; probably 90s some model. Had March 15 sticker, on tag, so it was inspected, right? It Smoked & stunk for 2 miles, before clearing up, + the third brake light was out!
Gee, must have happened after it was inspected!:shaking:

March 15 means its a dead tag on April 15. It may or may not have been inspected yet. Technically there's no check for smoking or stinking but it would cause a closer look at everything else. Also we were told you only need one functional brake light so if the third light was out it'd still pass!

I doubt they will check the parking brake at most places. It seems that quick lube type places check everything because the manager tells them to make money but at most shops they want to get inspections in and out. Horn, lights, tires, and your'e good

Horn? What's that? I spent the last two months driving around with expired tags, trying to reset my computer and drive just enough to pass inspection, but not enough for the CEL to come back on. Only to find out (at the inspection station) that the county I recently moved into does not require an emissions test. Lights, tires, blinkers, get outta here.......

Quite right Sir, & I believe I meant to say March 16. It was the Black sticker. I read that post on the brake light, then again, I had 1 bulb of a 2 bulb third brake light out, & they said they were required to fix it. Somewhere, there's also a statement as to "All Factory Equipment has to operate". Maybe that was the old emissions test, I don't know. On a Commercial truck, if 1 light is out, anywhere, the MAN can shut you down, if he wants to be an ass!
