Oct 8th: URE Relic Ride

Come on RQ! I wanted to meet the Missus :D

I'm at 98% right now (& climbing :flipoff2:). Have to be back Sat. PM, so I may drive down Friday, camp (*in* the Sub), ride, & split afterwards.

I'll be representing the "modern" crowd

As of right now, unless there is a miracle,I'm out.Nellie had developed a bad idle last time to unf and I have been trying to trace it out. After rebuilding the carb and a thorough tune up.I found I had worse issues.I pulled a compression test last night ans stock psi is around 111 pounds.Number 1 is running 129.Number 2 is 125.Number 3 is 125.Number 4 is a whopping 50. At this moment I am kind of lost as to what the problem is.Pulled the head,intake/exhuast ,and valve cover last night and nothing barked at me. I've got some ideas but doubt if I'll have her back together in time.

Excellent! Still haven't decided if I'm going Friday night or just driving down on Sat. for the day...

I got 10-tons of crap that was in/on/under/around the Moss cleared this weekend. A little boost on the battery and she fired right up! Checked the usual drips to insure they were still dripping, so all's good! Need to finish swapping out the radio antenna though :flipoff2:

We put the Timex back on the trailer last night & headed home with Tater after a 7-8 MONTH stay at my place (swapping in the TBI & major repairs). If he can find time to change the oil this week , he'll be a sneak-in ('84 CJ-7)...

allright! Nellie Belle is back up and running.I'm not gonna put 100 percent on being there just yet BUT I would say there is a good chance...

stuck intake valve in number 4 cylinder.Pulled the valves out of cylinders 3 and 4 and relapped them in after cleaning up the stems.Don't know why they had build up on them so much.I ran a preliminary pressure test when I bloted down the head and the psi was still a little low on 4.Installed everything and cranked her up and she seems to be running fine now.Vacuum guage shows a slight sweep of the needle but that might be from having a solid lifter cam with a little valve overlap.I might pull another compression test tomorrow evening and see if the number5s are better now that she ran for nearly 30 minutes.

Well I know my 94' yota is not old enough for this but I will be there and bringing some guys from base that have never been to ure but they will probably be riding 4wheelers,if you see my black yota holler at me!

got about half way there, motor began to knock. I pulled off to investigate, oil was coming from the back of the motor, near the rear seal. Could not get the JEEP to re-fire. Called my Dad and the JEEP came back home on a trailer. Guess I'll have a project for the Auto Shop teacher.
