Oct 8th: URE Relic Ride

i hadnt even got 10 mins from home and t-case started whining and roaring, got out found drain plug had came out, no idea how. long story short we made it there around 12:30 ish and set up camo. i did see oldsargent and smokeater that evening on the access rd, i hate i missed it guys

Sorry to hear that Matt. We hoped to meet you on the trail somewhere. Hopefully it'll work out next time. We did have a good time and only had 1 problem at the end of the day, and he drove out under his own power. So, not to bad I would say.
It was really good to meet and wheel with such a great group of folks. I look forward to wheeling with you Guys and Gals again. And it was really cool to see Jimmy put that stock M38 where ever he wanted to put it, even up Daniel! :driver:
 
yea man,yesterday was a great day and a real good group of folks to ride with.Matt,sorry to hear your problems but atleast you made it.Let us know next time where you are thinking of setting up so we can hunt you down.
Gary,next YOU and I are going to start off at Cotton Place and go up.No sweating the getting home aspects of breaking something.I got it covered.
 
Yepp I kept getting texts at random times from Gary. I tried catching up to yall but just couldn't do it.

Im thinking we should try again in the spring. Im gonna try to hit a few more forums to get a good turn out next go around, although Im not sure how many made it this time.

I just know I will need a new tranny befor it comes around. It started getting hard to shift on way baack today and not wanting to go in gear during down shift. Checked fluid when got back today and it was empty (shoulda checked yesterday after finding t-case empty, but was to aggravated to think about it) So all i can figure is the seal between tranny and t-case went out, t-case lost fluid and then tranny fluid drained into t-case and then out. But I cant complain the ol three speed held up a good while without giving any problems, noyt even any noise.
 
Hate we missed you yesterday! There was another CJ there that lost a waterpump pulley (appear to have been rigged) heading in?

I think you're correct, but IIRC, there's no seal between the tranny & transfer (inter-mingling lube).
 
Anyone know the story behind the f-ed up xj? I caught a glimps of it sunday leaving camp, in the parking lot at dutch john. I've never seen a rig that mangled before.:eek:

We ran across him on the way out about 7pm. Someone ran him off the road, 597 I think and he flipped it 2 or 3 times. The guy who ran him off the road didn't even stop.
No one got hurt luckily

thats good no one got hurt, we saw him when was leaving out, and that jeep was tore up bad

That really sucks:shaking: good thing no one was hurt. I was wondering how he did all that damage on some slow pace trails, it looked like high speed jump/roll carnage.

Out-of-state "club leader" was stuck on the upper step for about 1.5 hours with his ears broken & his Na-Na cramping ... another hour waiting on 20+ rigs coming *DOWN* Daniel :rolleyes:

Yep we had to shower and go to a birthday party in T'vile. Didnt get home til about 1:30am towing the Jeep! I had to stop 3 times to keep from falling asleep.:shaking:

After further review, it appears I spun a bearing on #3 cylinder. Time to pull the crank and check to see if its ok.
 
Someone asked about pictures.........i took a ton. they are very large files. I will burn anyone who wants one a copy and mail them to you. Gary I have your address. Fair warning, there will be a couple of shots of the chihauhaus......so deal with them...and some artsy shots of mushrooms......

It was a nice day. I look foward to riding with you all again.

No problem Sandy, the Chihuahua you had with you kicks a$$! I've never seen a dog stand on someones shoulders while they walk around.
 
too late this year but maybe we can work something up for next late spring/ summer/fall time frame.
