I've only played around with it for a little bit, but so far there's not as much customization of the vehicles as I had hoped, and the gameplay is rather unrealistic. It may get better with time, but so far it's looking like it'll get uninstalled.
Tried it out this morning, its ok. customization is sub par you can change tire wheel combos adjust ride and suspension and the color of the truck and that's about it.
Its just timed races through check points etc. So gameplay is slightly more boring than most racing games but as far as off-road realism i think its pretty good. By far the best off road game Ive played as far as physics etc.
There is actual mud that ruts up and stays rutted up. And your truck gets mud clumps on it and the tread blocks on your tires will go back to black after riding on a hard surface while in between the blocks stays muddy.
Lockers you can turn on and off that you can actually tell a difference in (though is front and rear or none at all). You lift a tire it slows you down, you lift both tires your done. You can lower your tire pressure for a noticeable difference (again all or none). Hi/lo T-case where lo range can actually get you out of trouble.
Has winching that's pretty good even though the cable breaks to easy IMO. you can choose how much power you put to the winch even though we know winches are on/off only. Say your winching up a hill and you gas it, get slack on the line and then loose traction and slide back you can see the tension shoot way up and potentially break. ( I say break but more from where its hooked as you can use the winch again.)
And I wish I could choose from where to hook the cable with the mouse instead of cycling through a few places to none with the keyboard.
Its by far the most realistic off road game I've played it could be good with some mods and courses made by others with more free roaming capability. there definitely potential for a awesome rock crawling comp game if stuff like that became available.
Bottom line would I buy it again, no especially not for $30 some odd dollars. but Id keep an eye on it and if stuff becomes available Id be all over it.
From what I am reading posted above in combination with videos I have seen of it I am guessing it would be (at least more enjoyable from my stand point) getting a couple people together online and ride the different tracks as trails vs race courses. IE ignore the racing aspect and just have fun tackling the obstacles in different ways etc, essentially what you do with a group trail riding at URE etc.
Here is a short vid of some crawling, you can seem me lock the T-case then the diffs. and lower tire pressure before attempting the first rock. I also forgot to put it in low and you'll see me do that then climb right up.
Looks like there is at least one course in the game devoted to rock crawling. Looks like there are plenty of lines to try to keep you busy for a while.
Supposedly there is body damage in the game. I have seen busted/cracked windshields and some minor damage, but I haven't seen any videos showing any large amounts.
If I had something that could run it I would buy the game and test the crap out of it. But until the day I get up enough extra money to build another computer watching videos and getting feed back from people on here will have to do.
