OFF ROAD PARK OPENING NEAR HICKORY NC

I honestly don't know that it would work out having bikes and atv's and rigs all there. i think it would be crowded. But you have a great idea!
I'm definately up for having a place a very short drive away.

Not trying to be a smarta@@ but is 80 acres is really enough land?
yea.. isn't Callantee like 5000? I dont think 80 is enough for trucks AND dirt bikes and 4wheelers..Id say rigs only..But it would be nice to just drive about 25 minutes and have fun.. Is it flat or hilly acreage? Ive noticed a lot of guys in here like steep :poop: and big rocks..

it don't sound like enough for bikes and trail rigs both, but i guess they can both mingle. as far as price 20 bucks is plenty reasonable if the trails are challenging enough to keep you busy for a day. if someone is willing to make this happen and keep us a place to play we should be willing to pay 20 bucks for a day of fun. if you need any help i've got plenty of time since i still aint got no DAMN JOB.
oh sorry about that.

and make sure theres no rare endangered exotic albino speckled fork tongued trout in that river or Trout Unlimited will get you shut down..

$20 a weekend is too cheap!
if this is real

80 acres is a pretty good bit of land to wheel on. My family owns 75 acres in the South Mountains and is plenty for us to wheel on. Now theres only a few of us that ride there and no bikes around, but I think 80 acres done correctly would be a nice little place to ride.

As mentioned, forget the dirtbikes and ATV's. They've already got more places to ride than we do. Plus with only 80 acres, I think you'll run into alot of overcrowding issues on the trails if you try to put dirtbikes and ATV's on the same trails as rigs.

Ok here is the plan. We have to see enough interest by the general public before my partner and I would build this, our final goal is to have 80 acres for you guys to play on, but we would probably make weekends for the rigs and through the week if people wanted to bring their 4wheelers and dirt bikes out they could play, that way I dont have you guys running over the dirt bikes or them getting in your way. Our final goal is to have an off road shop at the entrance and do just as local business have like RIDES and EXTREME MACHINES and help you guys get parts for these rigs and even work on them. We are hoping to build a relationship with all of you get your trust and business and work with the local 4x4 clubs this would give you guys a place to play, and a reasonable place to order and buy your parts and have your work done by someone who is just out to have fun and make an honest living. Keep the post coming if you want to see the project happen. We already have the land its 25 min from downtown hickory, already epa approved and zoned.

the gulches is 80 acres and skip has done areally good job on i,t with one way trails it feels larger than 80.

my partner and I.

2 final goals? wouldnt one be a next the last goal?

Im just giving you hell, i hope it goes through. We've just seen this thread before. the names and places have changed, but the thread is the same.

 g'luck

hell yeah! im down since im like 10 minutes from Hickory! Please build it and we will come!!! hell ill be there every weekend my wife will let me even if its just for a few hours. Keep the bikes and 4wheelers sepearte though as it would be dangerous since there allways trying to go like 100 mph! You could have events for them like every first weekend of the month or something.

Exactly what I was thinking. In order for a place like this to open and stay open they must be able to turn a profit, and that's a tall order for a business like this. The saving grace for this project is that it's nowhere near Uwharrie, which has an artificially low price, thereby creating unfair competition for anyone wanting to open an OHV park. Good luck opening this place; you're going to need it!

Sounds fun, I live far away but definatly be worth the 20 dollars to come out and camp and wheel. You can't expect an instant turnout until you have made trails though, and even then you will have to rely on word of mouth largely. Basically, give the community what they want, and they will support you.

$20.oo a weekend covers camping and trails from friday till sunday? That sounds do able! What kind of camping and so on?

Will you be at the D P G tomorrow the 27th? I also see that you just joined this forum this month, so I assume you are not into wheeling. Which is fine if that's the case. People are going to wheel some where and I commend you for under taking this venture and wish you all the luck. Do your home work and get to know your customers and it will work.

Damn I wish I would have posted this first. Lol My pop owns 270 acres in Taylorsville I've been trying to get him to do this with since he's out of the farming business.

As said, Gulches is 80 acres. Many of you have rode up at the Flats. we have 68 acres there.

I think it's doable. But much thinking and planning will have to be done.
The river...Keep EVERYONE out of it at all cost's
Motorcycles and ATVs don't mix, need an example, take a day trip to Brown Mountain during the spring in a buggy, and see how many close calls you have.
Possible solution would be to have 1st and 3rd weekend for ATVs and 2nd and 4th weekends for the crawlers.
To have a full blown shop at the same location I think is spreading it a little thin. With the shop, parking area, area for rigs to be worked on/picked up, would take a large part of the available land. Maybe a few carports for folks to work on breakage, with power and basic needs such as a welder, lift air, and so on.

Good luck with this, I hope it can become a reality.
