I couldn't think of anywhere better to put this, so here we are.

As some of you may have seen, this was a thing that happened:

I'm don't want to spend anyone's money to put a other factory bumper on it. I want a winch bumper and I'll take what's allotted to replace that, throw some more in with it, and get....something. I'm tired of the plastic pieces fading so bad. They're all cheap, aftermarket ones now.

Now then, the dilemma is as follows. There are only a few companies that make a bumper for the 01/02 HD trucks that look half way decent. So far all I've found is BuckStop and ARB. Everything else is far too multifaceted/jagged for a round front end or sticks way out like a fat bottom lip. There may be a few Ranch Hand style ones that look alright, at best, but don't have provisions for a winch mount.

There's links for the two I've mentioned thus far.

Ideally, I'd have this guy build me one, but he kinda disappeared off of Facebook for some reason. It sucks, because this one is basically perfect and he said he'd do it for 1200 bucks...

The other issue being I know a lot of guys on here that do KILLER work building buggies and such absolutely and unequivocally HATE building bumper with a red-hot, firey passion.

So...I guess my questions are these:

1- Which of the two I listed looks better? Personally, I like the BuckStop. They're both a little bulkier than I'd prefer, to be honest.

2- Anybody know of something available for an 01/02 HD that looks anywhere near as good as either of those?

3- Anybody know somebody that would willingly build me something like I actually want? The radius where the top and face meet is a must.

4- Should I just say F It and figure out how to hang something behind a factory bumper and deal with it? I don't necessarily care about the money so much as I hate plastic and thin metal.

5- Other ideas or suggestions?

second move bumpers also. There is also someone on etsy selling cut files for some good looking bumpers like move diy.

It's hard to beat an ARB, especially if someone else is paying for it. They tend to be well designed and not as heavy as others on the market. Designed thicker where they need to be and thinner where they don't.

That being said I was looking at Move more for the price.

ARB, The Move bumpers are big but not train bumper size. EDIT: Because curiosity made me go to the move web site. NO the move bumpers look like they belong on a Tesla truck or the

. Angular and modern. Like a bad plastic job on Madonna's face.

The huge grills and frame height of modern trucks really make designing a sleek bumper a pain. Be glad this truck isn't newer. The more modern the bigger the gangsta grill.

Fender lines and sheet metal should compliment the bumper.....But this is expensive to manufacture.

Keep tracking the facebook guy. Don't settle for less. If you can't find him, I can probably draw it up and have a local industrial fab shop build it for about $3500-4000.

Look up move bumpers

Hard pass. They're everything I don't want and one of the worst looking things I could possibly imagine. Aside from letting FabFours loose with an open checkbook. I honestly think the only reason they sell is because they're cheap.

Have you seen tim_zr2s bumper from Pirate4x4? His bumper is for an 03-06 so the headlight hoops wouldn't fit.

I have numerous (truck related 😅) pictures from him saved on my phone. I'd borderline perform sexual favors to have him build me something... His bumper actually makes a cateye Chevy front end look good. The whole truck is being studied as a permanent treatment for E.D.

Maybe I should get up with him and see if he could build me one. 🤔

I bet the FB guy is laying low after he built the perfect bumper, took $50k in deposits and spent it all before he built the first one. I'd still try to find him though cause that bumper is sweet.

I laughed at the probability, but I don't think that's the case. I tried to put down a deposit and he wouldn't take it. He might have figured out he didn't want to build them after all. At least I have a picture of it. Most of the guys on the FB LB7 groups liked cateyes anyway, so there wasn't a long line of people hitting him up for one of those.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the same of his stuff (and your truck, frankly).

That FB guys bumper is nice. Too bad he disappeared.
Between buckstop, arb, and move, I like the ARB.
A lot of guys "disappear" from the bumper making business because they are too nice for too little money.... and reality sets in.

There is a reason Andy at Ironman4x4fab doesn't make them. I had a rear he made years ago on out XJ. It was awesome and went with body lines great. He basically said time invested on what he could sell them for was not worth it. I assume the big bumper shops have them welded up with robots.

You'd pretty much have to.
Making 1 big cool bumper -> kinda fun.
Making hundreds.... the fun will fade quickly.

This and you get the customer that says: A "SHitty Built" is half that much!

Or insert almost every other xyz company except "Fabulous Fours". They are ridiculous and they know it . So a premium for the highest tard can be asked for and brought to the table.

Aside from the absolute bare bones pre runner look I love, I would buy an ARB all day long for just about anything they support. Minimal, Stout, and effective without being a complete aerodynamic brick.

The radiused edge is going to be the largest piece to duplicate. That will require a decent sized press brake, or a bunch of cuts to form. I agree that makes it look nice however.

Or a piece of pipe and some welding and a grinder.

I have a buckstop with the classic brushgaurd on my f250 and love it. Was on my f550 as well. Has a 16,5 winch in it and holds up to pulling both no prob. 250 weighs 8kish depending on tool load and the 550 weighs 12k empty. Have had to winch with trailers behind it as well

I have 2 already made 600 for one. Or I could cut you one without any designs or your own for 900..food for thought
