I inherited a 60s model Willys pickup truck. I dig it but it's going to need work (no shit). The PO was my wife's uncle. He decided to swap in a CJ-5 drivetrain. So currently its got the 304 and power steering to boot! I have all the pieces from the old drivetrain including the overdrive unit (rare).
Now, I can either take the 304 out with the T150 / D20 and replace it with the original drivetrain but then I would lose the power steering but have overdrive. If I stick with it, I've got more power and I won't need to do anything else beyond freshening everything up. I want to drive this truck to work eventually and also around in the woods. Around here I miss a lot of day trips because my other Jeep is a trailer queen and princess doesn't touch asphalt with those tires.
To throw in another scenario, I've got a t18a and Scout 300 that I could put together. No I wouldn't have overdrive but I would have a sweet ass low range and solid bulletproof combo.
Lastly, laugh if you must but I would like halfway decent fuel mileage. It's not going to rival my beater Honda but maybe mid to upper teens if possible.
Thoughts?
*Disclaimer - I will more than likely ignore all your suggestions or maybe I won't.
