All over the news, Facebook, everywhere.
My Dad woke my up just to tell me...

Good to know though, it's about time

GOOD JOB BOYS AND GIRLS!!!! NOW BRING EM HOME!!:beer:

Pretty big deal; curious to see what the president has to say in his address.

Pretty big deal; curious to see what the president has to say in his address.

YEAH this will be the first time i actually watch him

I'm sure he has been dead for years.....

This is huge. Wish I was on a military base or at an academy to see the reaction. Congratulations to the member of the armed forces and intelligence community who were able to accomplish the mission.

TSA celebrating Osama's death by giving flyers a "free pass" all night. "keep ur shoes on folks, just go have fun"

The explanation certainly sounds like a load of bullshit. "We dropped a leet seal team in, shot osama in the head while sustaining no injuries, then flew his body out only to toss it overboard so as to keep with islamic religious beliefs of a quick burial." Not that pictures mean much these days, but no pics=bullshit.

First of all...if this is in fact true, this is a great day for freedom, and it's really kind of a relief knowing there is some resolve and closure for the ones more directly affected by 9/11 than myself. That said, I'm not necessarily buying what's being sold yet either. I'd much prefer to think he's not dead (entirely) yet and he's feeling every single one of the deaths he caused in an underground bunker somewhere within the CIA confines. But the conspiracy theorist in me says I need more proof (like .gov can't fabricate DNA results and photochop pics) and wondering if this isn't a grandiose wag the dog scheme. Hell, the radio (103.7 and 104.1) this morning already had folks chanting BO 4 more years since it was on his watch.

Not to mention, does it really matter??? Yes, I'm glad he's dead, but there are plenty of others ready to step in and take the role (does anyone even know how active bin Laden has been in the terrorist groups for the last 10 years, while he was supposed to be in caves). And I'm just waiting to see what kind of retalliation there's going to be.

In my heart of hearts, I'd love to believe this at face value, but I just can't.

there are pics. im sure they will be released shortly.

The most common pic floating around right now (that was shown on Iraqi TV etc) is an obvious fake, clearly chopped from a classic '98 photo, and nobody can confirm its origin.
I'm really hoping the US will release some better, real ones...

Otherwise it will become the hunt for Osama's long-form death certificate... the "deather" movement lol.

ah who cares.

when he doesnt show up for the next "who we gonna blow up" meeting, it will be all the proof the al qaeda needs.

we have killed or captured everyone who steps up to lead the terrorists. Now we have cut down their most revered leader.

we have buried him at sea so that no one can build a shrine around his grave, we have wiped his name from the records. The last 10 years he has lived in hiding, and his only achievement was killing 3000 americans and bringing a reign of terror on the middle east that has led to the deaths of more muslims than americans.

proof of death or not, we have done an excellent job at destroying his legacy.

Fuck yes!

The last 10 years he has lived in hiding,

My question is...how long was he hiding in the caves that the media always reported to us. From the reports I've seen and read, it says he was found in a 'palatial compund' and some even said 'resort like' and others said 'multi-million dollar fortress'. Common thread to all those reports, is it doesn't sound like he was living too bad, nor hiding too hard. Regardless, I find much solace in the justice brought forth...things just aren't adding up to me though.

who cares if you live in a palace or cave.

if you are the most hunted man in the world and cant leave your palace and live your life in fear of being shot in the forehead, no amount of plush can really make you comfortable.

palace or spider hole, it's all the same.

and the intel that he was there came in about aug of last year. So he has lived there for almost a year. who knows before that.

I bet he regrets hitting the "ok" button when his iphone4 asked if it could "use this location"

^^^Fair enough...but I wouldn't doubt there was some sort of Pakistani protection...and would be willing to bet once the excitement wears off, there just may be a few investigations conducted.

yeah, there is a congressional intelligence oversight commission that will automatically start an inquisition into the use of and ramifications of U.S. foreign clandestine services.

It is a remnant of the Church Commission from the '70s. Their sole job is to make sure U.S. spy info and tools are not misused, and to make sure that the use of such assets do not have a negative effect.

Pakistan has been on the fence as far as helping us goes since the get go. Under a different president, you would probably see some sort of "punishment" for harboring Bin Laden, but im sure Obama will either look the other way or give some sort of verbal reprimand that doesnt mean crap.
