This will not be an epic thread like @rockcity month long west trip, but will try to document as much as I can of our trip to Ouray, CO. Unfortunately, I don’t have the ability to take that much time off at a time so I will have to make due with what I have. We will be leaving tomorrow at noon and returning on the 25th. Our plan is to make Benton, IL tomorrow evening, Wakeeny, KS on Thursday and end up in Ouray on Friday. Fingers crossed! We will be taking our Monaco RV and flat towing the JK.
loaded up already to head out tomorrow

I just realized that this could have been posted in general hit chat instead of garage. I will repost tomorrow. Long day.. lol

Looking forward to details and pics!!

I go to CO to my friend Don’s ranch outside of Westcliffe a couple of times a year. CO is a beautiful place. Have a great trip!

Safe drive! That’s my wife’s old stomping grounds growing up.
From a friend of hers out there that posted this the other day on FB:
“Million Dollar Highway, Colorado
About 100 years apart.. mode of transportation has changed, the purpose of the trips may be different but the view is still spectacular! Highway 550.”

Need more screens!. Let us know how I40 in Memphis is.
Did not though Memphis. Nashville, up 24 to 57 in IL. Made out first stop in Benton, IL. In the morning we will be getting on I70 and Heading west. Will be glad to get past ST Louis, then it is clear sailing with a bunch of nothing. Lol
As for screens, rear camera to keep eye on jeep, BlueFire that monitors all the engine data, fuel mileage, trans temp, speed, extra. RV GPS with coach dims in so we dont get stuck driving in town, down an alley while trying to take a detour… again. Tire monitoring system that reads all air pressures in all tires, and send a warning if the go over or under the set number. And of course the phone for blue tooth radio and pics and such.

Made it through St Louis with no issues and minor traffic. On I-70 west heading for our stop in Wakeeny, KS 🍺

Make sure to hit brown dog pizza in Telluride, still dream about that Detroit style pizza.

Such a cool area, hopefully all the passes are open. When we went in August of 19 Poughkeepsie and black bear were still closed from snow and avalanche damage.

Well we made it finally…. CO roads are absolutely the worst!!! Damn!! Ended up going through Denver due to a road closure. That brought the suck. Construction, stop and go traffic, the the mountain pass really sucked as well. Made it just past Aspen and coach started acting like fuel l filter was clogged. They were just changed in April..wtf.. made it to a rest area, took a out 20 minutes to change the filters and good to go. Just seemed odd. Going to cut them open when I get home and inspect. Now I need to source more filters before the ride home.
A little over two hours late, we made it Ouray at 6:30 pm. Staying tonight at the KOA and then moving to Riverside RV Resort tomorrow for the rest of the week.
Taking is easy tomorrow and getting set up for the week. Our ride Sunday is going to be Black Bear Pass and Imogene pass.

there are a few cool rigs here. Couple of pics them. Will try to get some more tomorrow.

Not sure what you mean. We were on I70 in Kansas.

Monarch Pass past Colorado Springs on 50, or Eisenhower Pass past Boulder on 70. Sounds like you went over Ike.

Made it to our permanent camp site.

Relaxing evening. Went to town for a little bit. Enjoining some peanut butter Whiskey and cranberry juice. Yes it it tasty. To say I am not nervous about black-bear pass would be lying! But hopefully we will get some awesome pics along with the pinch seat!
If I don’t happen to make it back, cheers and NC4x4 you are the best! Hopefully someone will retrieve the photos
