Anybody got a recommendation in central NC (Sanford) for pipe relining? Got an old cast iron that is gommed up. Need somebody to run a camera &/or auger down and who can re-line if doable.

House to street has been replaced with PVC, so it's gonna be under the basement slab.

That’s expensive for a residential application. If the cast is corroded on the inside, it’s likely structurally compromised to a point where it won’t be worth the effort or cost after it’s augered.

I used to have contacts that did this sort of thing but I’ll have to really dig for that info.

Most of the time it was deemed more expensive than what was practical, so we didn’t do it often.

There's a company out of Lincolnton that travels the country doing it, you're looking at a 10k minimum plus $xx per foot. Unless we really really have to use them, it's always cheaper to cut the concrete and replace. That being said they do a really good job.

Along with everything above, I've been told that in commercial applications; anything under 6" is usually more difficult than they want to bother with.

We had it priced for some 10" storm that passed under a wing of a building. Approx 50ft. The plumber had that price in one hand, and his price for "sawcut, remove old cast, bed new PVC in all gravel with gravel backfill, pour slab to match existing, top with terrazzo to match existing" in the other hand and his price to replace was roughly half of the lining cost.

You can imagine what a publicly funded owners rep chose.

Thanks for the tips. Pretty much confirmed in a few phone calls this morning.

After describing the job, one place said it would be 8-12k easily. And should be done in a day. I think there is some profit in there.

Another has to have $100 up front to come look at it. And for that, said they'd come look, but probably not do it because it's residential.

3d one said it can't be done because it's not a straight shot. Best I can figure, there's at least two 45's under the slab.

I think I'm back to either cutting the slab, or moving/getting rid of the basement bathroom.
