Pretty random but me and my fiance got engaged a little over a month ago and have obviously been talkign about where to get married. We have all kinds of ideas of places but i was wondering if some of you guys could post up some good places that you were either married at or have been to weddings at....We have some time to plan it all out so we are not in any rush but just throwing around some ideas so any cools places that you guys have seen weddings at, with a link or a picture or something would be really helpful as well...Thanks, and keep all the "dont get married crap to yourselves":flipoff2:

If you got the coin, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden makes for a fine venue. I don't know what it costs to have a wedding there, but I'm sure it's not even remotely cheap. Tis purty though.

Congrats! We got married at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville. That place is absolutely beautiful, and was VERY REASONABLY priced. We looked at a lot of places, and that place just wowed us. The owner, If I remember his name right, was Doug Carrigan, is very laid back and can do just about anything. When you get there, you have to drive thru the middle of the strawberry field to get down to the rock quarry which is where they have weddings and other events. There is a covered shelter and a large white sand beach overlooking the lake in the rock quarry. Everyone told us we had the nicest, most fun wedding they had ever been to, and it didn't break the bank. I don't have any pics here at work, but if you want to see some of them, PM me your email.

Find a fourwheelin type preacher, have all your friends dress up in their suits and boots, head off into the woods. Have the wedding, take a tent, and have fun. Low cost (unless your break) and more money for the honeymoon.

If either of you are into trains, you could do it at the NC Transportation Museum. My wife & I had our reception there, and the wedding train was great - everyone loved it, and then we had dinner, music, etc, in the round house.
Oh yeah, and get Brent to make you super-cool magnetic signs for the getaway vehicles.

Vegas.
We did the "traditional" style Vegas wedding, but what I really wanted to do, (wife didn't like me enough for it) was get married on the Treasure Island pirate ship. :D
With the new show there I'm not sure if it's still an option, but other than being in random people's photo albums, that would have just been cool. (But it might show that I have issues)

My vote would be a Vagas wedding with Elvis as the preacher and Jim Morrison as best man. And plenty of pics for the future non-believers! :)

Honestly though, the best wedded couples I know had cheap weddings and they have lasted forever. I had a big wedding and it almost split us up from the get go with all the head aches. If ever again both of us totally agreed... VAGAS!!!

My fiance and I are getting married in a nice church back at home, we didnt want an outdoor wedding, so that narrowed it down. It is also its the church my parents got hitched in so it is sentimental to her. If you can get some family and friends to help with a lot of the preparations, then you can come out pretty cheep. I think ours is going to be right around 9k, and thats including a honeymoon to greece.

i've seen a few beach weddings, they all looked very nice and fun,
Do you have any specifics on these? Where they were and how many people where there....unfortunately my fiances Mom is going crazy on this wedding and we cant have just a simple close friends and relatives type of wedding so i think a beach wedding may be out....thanks tho
What season are you shooting for?
We are shooting for the fall i think....well at least thats what she wants at the moment. We are not getting married until 2009 after we graduate in may so like i said we have at least a year and a half to plan so i think she wants the fall...i am not to picky
The mountains have tons of places up around Boone and the like.
any specifics on places up around there...we found a place that is really nice down on Glassy Mountain in SC that is really pretty...simple stone chapel overlooking a mountain and then the reception at a country club down the road but boone may be a bit closer if there is something like this around.

I am not paying for it so i am just along for the ride....Gotta love the Upper class tradition Brides family that wants to pay for it all and i am by no means going to stop them so i dont know what they are willing to pay but we can look into it.

That place seems really cool from the link, so we may have to go check it out. Thanks for the link. We got another link to a different farm outside of Raleigh that we really liked so we may have to check into them more than we had first ever thought about. If you have some time i would love to see some pics that you have of the way everythign was set up for your wedding, both the ceremony and reception, and an overall scope of the grounds. Looks like an awesome place that seems to have an awesome mountain lake feel, but its located in mooresville. Thanks for the info and if you get a chance to send me some pics i would greatly appreciate. Thank for your help....

Savannah, GA. Couldn't have been happier with anywhere else.
Savannah is a beautiful city but is there anywhere specific there that you would recommend we check out...I dont know the area that well as i have only been there a couple times to play soccer back when i was younger

I would love to do this more than you know but as i mentioned earlier my future mother in law is going hardcore on this wedding and wants to spend God knows what about of money on it to impress her relatives and friends. My fiance and I have already come to the conclusion that its not about what we want but the wedding her mom never got so we are just thankful to be not paying for it and knwo we will have a great time regardless...better not to ruin the relationship she has with her Mom.
As for vegas as mentioned about that is way out but another thing that i would still be down for.
Thanks for everyones help so far and keeep the info coming...i wasnt expecting such great replies so quick so thanks,
Ben

We would be very willing to go on the cheaper side with a simple wedding but it seems that as i mentioned earlier her mom is trying to impress a whole bunch of people with some sore of wedding you see on tv and we are just trying to pick the place we like best, that she will approve of. But thanks for the info

I'm getting married in hawaii coming up in june. staying 10 nights and getting married on the beach. no family just us. honeymoon/wedding all in one. looking at about 8K right now. pretty cheap for a wedding really.

Go drive thru old Town and pick the square that best suits you. There are about 20 squares and we drove thru all of them. We stayed at the Amethyst Inn. GREAT people, and got married in Whitfield Square right behind the Inn. If you do choose Savannah and want a wedding planner, I'd HIGHLY recommend the lady that helped with ours. She's also a chef that cooked for Paula Dean. She did ALL the arrangements, cooking, reservations, and Made EVERYTHING worth while at a good price.

It's good that you have come to this comclusion already.

It stopped being your fiancee's wedding the mement she said, "yes".

^ That is a rocky path you are heading down. Pick a place you and your future wife like. Don't worry about making the future mother-in-law happy with your choice. It is you and your wife's day not hers.

If you like the mountians and want a small neat place to have a wedding check out Stone Mtn State Park. I got married there in September 2007. There is an old church there called Garden Creek Baptist Church. It seats about 70 people and it is a beautiful setting.

My wife and I were married last June @ Trunk Bay St. John USVI; I would not trade that trip/ those memories for anything but it is what we wanted. Our Immediate family + Grandparents came down which kept things really simple; we had a reception back @ home for everyone else.

We started out heading down the road with having a large local wedding with a food, pastor and the works but after a good evaluation between my wife and I we decided that the headache was not what we wanted to remember, and the US Virgin Islands was nice and tropical but we didnt have to worry about passports.

Here's a couple photos;

The whole trip cost close to $6500.

There's a handful of really nice hotels in the Boone/Blowing Rock area, some of them quite old, and in beautiful areas. If you are really interested in the mountains, I'll check into some stuff when I get back to the apartment.
Also, the Grove Park Inn or Biltmore House Hotel in Asheville would be pretty awesome...
