Thanks to all the groups that donated last year and a new donation from the NAXJA club we will have a little over $800 to start the year off for equipment costs/rentals. I will also be getting in touch with the CORE club and see what we can do to get the "Big Red" auger they donated back up and running. So when the nearly 3 month break from Volunteering ends in February we will be ready to hit the ground running and get the off-season workdays (only 2 of them, February and March) off to a great start.

I take it that March 17 will be the last workday before the trails open?

Yeah, I was standing there and it sounded like a thrown rod or something internal to the engine. Probably not fixable, unless you put a new motor in it, from the way it sounded.

What is Big Red?? Make, model, etc? What motor? I know some people that know some people, maybe.

The big red auger is internally broken from what I'm told by our Prez.

Yeah I have talked with Tim via PM a couple times and it seems its shot. I checked the receipt and I doesn't show a warranty purchased. To my knowledge the Auger is still up at Janet Becker's campsite at Arrowhead (the campground host). My budget hasn't allowed me to go back up there to pick it up (unless Tim has made it out there). Its sad to see a $400 auger that has maybe 2-3 hours of use self destruct.

The auger isn't red, but the 8" bit is hence the name.

Hopefully someone has some kind of contacts, because its essentially a brand new auger.

According to Recreation Specialist Terry Savery who heads up the FS workdays, the in season workdays will again be the 3rd Saturday of the month in 2012. There will be no scheduled FS workday in July but volunteers are welcome to preform trail clean up that month at their discretion. Off season workdays for clubs that are a part of the Forest Service Parter program will be February 25th and March 17th.

If you have a receipt can't you call the manufacture directly if the store will not help..

I was all ready on this, I contacted Ardisam which makes the Earthquake brand and I heard back from them today. They are directing me to Briggs and Stratton which does make sense. So I will have to talk to them now and see what they say.

I have been getting the run around on the warranty status of the engine. Hopefully we can get them to take care of it. Also it seems we will be having another $500 coming our way soon to help with trail equipment rentals etc. This year is starting off BIG! :driver:
