Here is the update I have for everyone right now.Thank you for all the well wishes and prayers,I didn't realize there were so many Dad's on here with similar aged Daughters.
I was at the hospital late last night and back there at 8:30 this morning after dropping my son off at school. We had our follow up CT scan this morning. My Wife left after the CT scan to go try to get some sleep, she has been at the hospital since Sunday evening without leaving. After a couple of tense hours waiting in her room with my daughter, I finally had a meeting with the doctors. The damage to her kidneys is worse than originally thought but stable. She will probably never regain full use of one of them. They say we still have some obstacles to overcome, the next 10 days will be critical for Emily. Her liver is still lacerated but it is no longer bleeding. We are looking at a 6 week recovery time, but if she shows improvement, they might let her come home very soon. After that I laid in a chair next to her bed and held her hand while we both dozed in and out of sleep. After being at the hospital 14 hours with my son doing his best behavior for 3 hours after school,I decided to take him home and try to get the house clean for when they let my little girl come home.I had only been home from there a little while when my 8 year old little girl called me.She wanted to tell me that she had gotten out of the bed for the first time since Sunday and sat in a reclining chair for a little while. Then she told me that she had eaten a little bit of food, also for the first time since Sunday and she held it down, then she told me she loved me and she would see me tomorrow. To hear that little voice tell me all that,it was the most she has said since she had her accident.I swallowed back the tears and told her how proud of her I am and I love her, just like I am swallowing them back now writing this.I appreciate y'all,Thank you so much for the well wishes and prayers. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers moving forward, she's got a long road ahead of her.
