Sometime Friday night, my 16 year old nephew(also named Dylan) took more drugs than his body could handle. Mixed reports say..xanax,alchahol and meth...? Appearently peer pressure and bad decisions have left him on life support with a grim outlook ahead of him. His heart is beating by itself, but just barely. Machines are doing the rest. When his heart stops again, they will pull the plug and hopefully harvest any usable organs for someone in need. Not sure if many organs will be usable at this point..but its hopeful. Dylan was a great kid, very smart and had a bright future. Although he is technically still with us..his chances of full recovery are less than zero. If(not likely) he lives he would essentially be in a vegative state and would require machines to help him live. This is not likely and the family has and is still accepting the fact that Dylan will be gone. Most of the family have accepted the fact that he could help others by organ donation.
So...NC4X4..I ask for your prayers and thoughts to be with our family, the doctors, and that any useful organs will be matched with needy recipients and that they might live a better, longer life.
Also..I hope that his friends that come to visit him will have that image of him swollen, discolored, cold...Basically dead...I hope that image sticks with them forever and they will realize that it CAN happen to them too.
Keep up and stay involved with your children..even when they are teens..thats when your guidance is needed most. One bad decision.....
edit** RIP Mathew Dylan C. passed away a few moments ago at Chapel Hill Childrens hospital. Life support was turned off and 3 mins. later Dylan's heart stopped beating.
Love ya buddy, you will be missed.
