Prius does 90 MPH !!!

I thought the foot brake was by wire, ie computer interprets what the driver is really 'intending' and subject to the errors we are hearing about. I was thinking a manual cable operated hand brake would bypass the computer. Seems hard to believe everything would be wired thru the computer, scary if true.

Dunno if the brakes are computer controlled but I know everything else is. I was just saying that the rear brakes are drums and everything that goes with that.

Theoretically, closed loop computer controlled systems are very efficient and good (ex. Efi). But controlling the basic human overrides is just too much.

So the question is - is his story real or did he come up w/ this on teh fly to get out of a ticket?
The ECU also carries a log of al lrecent activity, so all Toyota has to do is pull teh record, they'll know what did and did not try.

From what I understand he called 911 and police were dispatched to his location. He was calling out mile markers and such so they could find him.

I believe Ebrakes must be a stand alone, manual system. So, in theory and considering the weakness of the prius, the manual drum brakes should stop the vehicle or at least slow it down considerably.

Exactly,I had the cable hang up on a 77 built chevy. Ign was fawked wouldnt switch off.Tried neutral but was redlining,so I stood on the brakes and stopped the truck.Point is He should have easily been able to overpower that weakass Prius with the brakes......

Or open the door and put his foot down until it stopped.
