Throttle body coolant bypass

instead of t-ing this into a line going to the radiator, I tapped the water pump and ran a 5/16th's barb back into the water pump

thats gonna suck when you have to change water pumps
you can just plug it off

dont plan on swappin water pumps to often

drill a hole tap it and your done

I dont think bypassing the throttle body coolant flow is a good thing

people use it as a performance modification, dont see that helping us much in the offroad world

I would hate for a throttle body plate to stick during winter wheelin or drivin

The TB coolant passage is used by the factory for emissions purposes it helps the engine warm up faster by using the warm water to warm the air coming into the intake. Cold engines run rich which causes high emissions the sooner it warms up and levels the fuel mixture out the sooner it can meet epa standards which is why they do it, for the epa:rolleyes:. But if you want to keep it I would probably plumb in 2 valves to block the flow during the warm months because it will help the engine run cooler without the hot coolant warming the intake air andcooler air makes more power. Just an idea and my .02. But I like the way the rig is coming together.

I agree, maybe a small inline ball valve before and after it enters the throttle body, but I would never completely block it off

and thanks its a work in progress

Hey man you put the brakes on this rig? Dont see no progress pics. Give me a yell.

got the foot on the gas right now, :wheel:

flipped the intake 180 and put the air filter in the cab, everything is plumbed, mounted the tub, hood and grill

sold the BTF tube fenders, changing up to some old jeeps tube fenders

wheelbase came out at 112, but the tub is sitting to high for my likings, may swap the 2" bds springs for some stock yj springs

my dumb phone gave up the ghost this weekend, gonna get me a smart phone and post some pics soon

I due owe Chris Marshall, "Mars Fab" a public apology, when I posted this build thread, I was rolling on with it, money wasnt an issue, well when it got time to start thinking about a cage money was gone, so I renigged on Chris building my cage. I have since made other arrangements for a cage, sorry man

never had a prob with mine

those bds springs will break in very soon and settle. I run them on the front of my rig with 42s and it sets pretty low.

Thats good to hear, I moved the motor forward about 3" and it made the front sit down lower than the back, because there is no weight in the rear yet, i hope it levels out eventually, if not I am gonna 4-link the rear and be done with it

some changes

I worked yesterday for a while and today on a few things

Brad from Barnes4wd stopped by, and we swapped some stock yj leafs and some 4 link parts for the BDS 2" YJ springs

so i am gonna 4 link the rear first, then will probally 4 link the front also

anyway

looking good! What kind of bedliner did you use? I am getting ready to do one and like the way your tub looks.

Steve I used the Rustoleum bedliner in the gallon form from Walmart

go to harbor freight and buy a ceiling texturing gun around $20, make sure you prep the tub right, this stuff sticks good to primer, but will not stick to paint, and will not stick to bare galvanized metal

I sprayed it at about 75psi, and got a smooth finish, had a buddy tell me that spraying it at a lower psi would make it rougher looking and feeling, 1 gallon did about 5 smooth coats, I reccommend spraying it outside on a warm day, I sprayed mine in my garage on a cold day and it took near 4 days to dry completely and 7 days to cure

Why u copying me and running your intake turned around
