QUATER ELIPTIC QUESTIONS

it's all in the links. has very little to do with the leaf springs.

I think it would be funny to see a setup without limiting straps get rear ended... It could be possible for your rear tires to touch your fronts.

i think with this set up you have to have some kind of links, so that would not happen

I could run over 70mph all day long on the set up I used to have, it had seen close to 100mph on several occasions, here's som pics.

thats pretty awesome...

my only question would be "why" when you have essentially done everything you would need to run coils aside from buying the coils or coilovers of your choice.

-Erik <--- would run that just to be different, but that's just me

Cost is a big factor. You don't have to worry about separation like you do coils. Limiting straps are a must, I would run shorter ones for the hwy myself. I have a friend that has them and if he nails the skinny pedal it will try to walk under the Jeep if no strap. But, the articulation is awesome.

upnover.........those are issues with the link setup, not the quarter elliptic. Like Rich said, it has more to do with the geometry than 1/4 elliptic

The 1/4 springs were stock MJ leafs cut up,shoved and bolted in a piece of box tubing. The shackles on the rear axle are stock XJ ones...cost $0, but yeah having them is quite the conversation piece.

i can imagine so.... it's sparked my interest so much that i've been trying to figure out if i should still plan on going with coils in the rear, lol

I've been a throwing ideas around in my head for when I ever start a buggy, ever thought of a single center elliptic and 2 bars?

You'd have no side to side stability.

anyone ever considered running a single spring over top of the axle, like an old A-model???? with a 4-link of course.

I have actually considered this idea before...to be a cheaper alternative...but haven't put a whole lot of thought into how to make it work...I would think you would need a spring with quite a bit of arch to get much travel.

On my single elliptical post I guess add a sway bar or something, for something total low speed.

The A model thing I've thought about to, but have the top center mount on a swivel or something instead of a clamp, but I still think it would be limited on travel alot compared to other stuff. Looks great on T Buckets and Highboy hot rods though, If I ever build one I'd have that front and rear instead of coilovers for the looks alone on a streetrod.

If you get your links set up properly it will handle as good as your tires will allow. A link type suspension only depends on the springs to hold the vehicles weight.

I GOT THE LEAF PACK HANGERS MOUNTED IN PLACE WITH THE LEAF PACKS BOLTED ON TO THE HANGERS AND THE REAR AXLE.? IS THE SWIVEL JOINTS ARE THE SUPPOSED TO BE STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN INFO PLEASE I HAVE NO DIRECTIONS

:burnout: is the kit from spidertrax and what size tires. if so i have the same one.just havent instaled it yet.was it hard to install.how do you like it:bounce:
