Racing Gas around Raleigh

AV Gas contains LEAD, Tetra Ethyl LEAD, and WILL KILL any catalytic converter equiped vehicle ( kill the converter and O2 sensor anyway )

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avgas ( about the fuel )

I know this particular vehicle probably doesn't have converters, tossed that out as info should someone get a bright idea......

As for E85, yes, it is 85% ethanol, 15% gasoline. Be aware that yes, it has A higher Octaine rating, it burns a bit cooler AND it requires about 45% more fuel to mintain the same power levels as straight gasoline.

They tout E85 as the fuel of the future, but I see nobody explaining that mileage and power are greatly reduced as a result. IT IS explained in the OEM Owners manuals of Flex Fuel vehicles, but it's never mentioned in the ad's.

Just to piggy back (and I know e are waaaay OT, but its Ricky's post-payback) I have a flex fuel impala (company car, blech) gets 26-28 normally. Through ~ 10 tanks of E85 never got better than 16, and feels like slightly less power, not anemic, then again the impala isnt exactly a power whore either.

BTW how can you, with a straight face, tell us how you cant afford to fix your tranny and hen post about buying a BARREL of racing fuel....

We'll I made a strategic decision. I have/had about $1100, unfortunately thats not but like half of what I need to do the tranny swap. And until I graduate in May and get a job I have no other sources of income. So I had two choices:

-sit on my butt waiting till summer ends to fix my Z71 Truck and still have a Broken Z71 Jeep.

OR

-Fix the Z71 jeep with the $$ I have and still have enough left to barter/buy my Z71 Jeep a ride to the Uwharrie Race and home afterward.

I picked fixing my Jeep :driver: So instead of having my Z71 truck fixed by bout the end of summer it'll be more like mid Fall or so.

I'm also heavily counting on the fact that my Little bro is gonna be in the market for a dodge 2500 soon as summer gets here so I'm pretty much gonna take that thing from him all the time. Hey, I built his F100 for him so he has to let me use his truck in return right

People ask why I spend so much time working on other poeples trucks for free, it's all about having them in your backpocket when you need a favor ;) I prefer favor exchange over getting paid any day, cause I always need favors cause my Junk breaks every two seconds :shaking:

Well its not finished yet, but for the amount of time I've put in it I receive free favors for life ;) still needs me to put the engine back together w/ the performance parts and make a front driveshaft among a few other random things but nothin too serious.

But yea my ish doesn't ever stay fixed :shaking:
