Random pic thread.

He's cool! What is it?

We don't have those here but the kids catch the little green anoles all the time and we have both 5 line and broad head skinks.

Fence lizard. Maybe eastern. I cant remember what they are called. You probably have them, they are very elusive.

I took a pic of this guy on the fence post Saturday because of irony

Then I tore his post down

I may or may not have seen a 5in supply line collapsing a time or two.......

I'm the one that gets called out after one of the local fire dept.s go out and flush hydrants....and see how fast they can shut the water off. The main busts and the fuggers disappear. Then I'm out there on my own time running a crew for 6 hours plus fixin it.

How fast can you really shut a hydrant? Very hard to create a water hammer. I think your lines are just old and crusty.

More on the minibike sidecar build. So far I've not had to spend any money. Ok, that's not entirely true. I bought two cans of spray paint for when it's finished.

So, I took the metal from an old warehouse ladder I had laying around. Surprisingly, all the 90° bends were not 90°. In fact they were all different. It took a little finagling but I got the frame built and added some expanded steel for a floor. I had no more stock bends around so I had to create some. If you run into this problem good luck is all I can say. I kinked the tube about five times before I just decided to make two cuts and run with it. Next up is finishing the railing, the handlebar, and axle.

I've never shut a hydrant so fast it caused a spike on gauge at an adjacent hydrant, let alone cause a main to bust.

A buddy of mine is the main honcho at one of the local water dept’s and they send out someone to shut off the hydrants when there’s a fire in his area of the county. They blew a main 5-6 years ago when a lumber processor caught fire and they were refilling trucks.

Next time you need to need to make bend like that fill the tube with water and freeze it you can bend it without it kinking.

That's interesting. I'll have to try that some time.

I can see that as a possibility of you have a ball valve connected to a 3" fill line MAYBE. Opening a hydrant normally ain't gonna happen.

I think it was a quick shut off that did it.They were having to refill the trucks and I'm sure were probably in a hurry to get back to get fire and just shut it off too fast.Plus who knows the cond of the pipe to begin with.

I always go out with the fire department. Those young guys just don’t know any better. I got called last night because the fd hooked to a hydrant just long enough to stir the sediment up in the whole area. There wasn’t even a fire. If I wasn’t retiring in October I’d kill em!
