Random pic thread.

After hearing sirens & seeing the commotion below my house for 45 minutes today, I had to take a look. My town Loves to turn out the equipment. Two GMS units, one Life Saving unit, two fire engines, four Police cars for traffic. I heard there was 1 person in the vehicle. He had already been transported, when a third GMS unit & a GMS Supervisor should up. Car simply ran off the road [only the driver know why], struck a pole, which spun & flipped vehicle. Little Early for Happy New Year!

Wth? It's not even rear wheel drive! Maybe some nasty understeer?

Little man got to meet Santa on the polar express today. 2020 has been a rollercoaster of emotional events but I must say this ended the year with one proud and happy daddy.

Day 10 of my 13 days of Christmas (vacation):
Got some stuff for a cabinet project from Lowes. Only took an hour to find 5 straight boards  Then I got out to the van and realized I had grabbed 1x10s instead of 1x12s. Took em back in and returned them before I even loaded them all up. FWIW, you CAN fit a 12ft long board in a Toyota Sienna. Im not sure what the dash is rated to carry, but im sure at least 8 1x12x12s or 4 2x12x12s would be ok. :bounce:

After that I met up with @Croatan_Kid while he was selling his Kubota to my neighbor. Nice tractor, but what a cool truck he has.

Didn't really hit on much else. Dropped the kids off at my parents house for a few hours so we could get something done, and ended up having to go back to Lowes for different boards due to a design change before we even started.

Went to pick the kids up and snapped this rare pic of them in the same proximity and not fighting.

Drew this diagram of my dump cylinder so I could figure out the travel and where to mount it.

I was exhausted from the lack of progress so I went to bed around 10:30 last night and didn't even care. I hope the wife and her boyfriend had a nice new years eve! o_O :(

I was already back home...hope she wasn't disappointed

I was almost REALLLLLY sad that I was at @jeepinmatt 's and hadn't seen anything on fire, but the wood stove was going in the basement. It wasn't a total bust!

Also....that Swagger Wagon is pretty pimpin :huggy: Got that AWD and some directional tires. This was all I could think of the whole time :D

I just realized we didn't even do any TC off AWD throttle assaults on the gravel in the rallyvan. Now I'm disappointed in myself.

I always enjoyed gong to Home Depot and having people glare at me when I walk up with a bunch of 2x12s to my Mazda Protege5.
Pretty sure that car is only about 14' long.
Lay down front passenger seat, roll down window, slide em in from the back. Drive home w em sticking 2' out the front.

Day 11 of my 13 days of Christmas (vacation):
I could really feel things starting to wind down yesterday, so I figured I better get started on a project on the wife's list. She's been wanting built in cabinets on either side of the fireplace from the beginning, but the cabinet guy was too expensive during construction, and her husband was too busy, so it hasn't happened.

Finally made the first cut, so there's no turning back now. Next step was to cut out the profile in the old oak boards on the fireplace. It pained me a little bit, but making this much dust INSIDE my nice, clean house probably pained me more.

Once that was done I set about building the frame and making it work. For the most part, the walls were pretty square and the floor was level. The back wall sheet rock had a little bow to it, but it was livable.

And what project is complete with having to deal with some electrical stuff...

Sizing up for trim. Fortunately I didn't have miscuts.
20210101_185924.jpg

Needed to make some custom width trim, and it was raining so I didn't wanna carry stuff down to the real table saw in the shop. So I just used a wood blade in my tile saw in the floor of the garage :D

Worked well enough that I ended up ripping all the shelf boards with it too

Still need to build doors and put some trim on the shelf fronts, but its coming together. For reference on the scale, its 47" wide and 97" tall.

I'm very pleased with the fit and finish of everything. This Milwaukee miter saw is world's better than the Kobalt one I had.

Bought oil at Wally today. Thought I'd found a Deal. Bought this 12 Qt. box, since many Chevy's now hold 8 qt.s. Had no idea, it wasn't 12 Bottles! Read more details, & figured out, it's a Bag, holding 12 qt.! It does have a spigot on it, but it's cumbersome to use! I just poured about 3 qt. in my old 5qt. jug, & re-poured out of it. Probably Won't do this again.
