Same. When I was a post-doc at Wake Forest Baptist Medical for 2 years, they were very clear distinctions between research fellows and employees. Totally different benefits. I had no idea I even had a 403(b) benefit until about 3 years later, I was in another state and had moved twice, got a letter from TIAA saying, "We have updated your contact info, please confirm if correct." I have no idea how they found me, but I'm glad they did. That would be me.I had a job back in the mid 90's and had a 401K for about year before I left.Never did anything w it and have no ideal what became of it.So yeah I guess it is a problem for some.
That's actually good to know. I assumed it was for dumbass millenials who job hopped and didn't have their shiz together. But never considered 401k's in the pre-internet days where there was no portal to log in to or way to track it. Now I look back and say, how the hell did I not keep up with this. the answer is... young and not paying attention.

I was planning to just use the ol pipe wrench but there wasn't enough material to grab. If I had thought about it this week, I'd have primed it tooHah, I just bought the spanner for this job last week. Amazon prime is definitely a killer of creativity
