No matter the tie downs, I've always wondered what would happen if I was rear ended in traffic by a truck with ladders on it.

It depends. If its just one or two ladders, the guy would probably present you his company insurance policy and wait on the cops.
If its a whole stack of ladders, I'm guessing a bunch of people would get out and run and the truck would try to drive away...

The boys wanted to start lawnmower pulling. Asked if we could build a track. Only real question was, how long can we make it?! Still need to hit it with the tiller. I've got a frame made out of 4x4 angle iron for a dead sled. Just need some weight.
